i first noticed my hair getting thinner about three years ago but wasnt totally sure at the time. Now i think its obvious that my hair is thinning. my doctor said he would give me a prescription but i found it a little too expensive and was wondring if anyone knows any legit online sites to get generic propecia(so many scam sites online)? im also a little worried about the shed that everyones talking about on here and how bad it would make my hair if/when it happens. At this rate i figure i would have at least another 5 years before i have to worry and just wondering if propecia is worth the risk. if i can keep the hair i have now i would be happy

If your losing hair finasteride is the best bet to save it, most people dont shed noticably. Just get a prescription for 5mg pills and cut them its much cheaper than propecia

I waited till I couldn't wait any longer (started shedding in my late teens (actually mightv been sooner) and started finasteride when i was 23) and i have to say so far I wish I started back when i was like 20-21 or so. The only side effects i've gotten were lowered libido but whenever I quit they would come back. Ive been on about 1 1/2 years while I stopped for like 6 months and started to shed a lot after 3-4 months off. So far while ive been on I haven't really lost any hair.

There was a shedding period for a while but it recovered later and wasn't tooo bad. I was taking rogaine at the time to so that was half the shed probably. I quit rogaine though because I don't want to be dependent on such a daily nuisance and I believe its honestly not something we should take because its a toxin that if goes systematically over time it would do some sort of damage to the heart due to its toxic effects on it. I know it gave me heart palpitations all day if I accidentally used to much. I actually see finasteride safer at least for me.

Yes, it appears that you should go on propecia.

DO NOT GET THE NAME BRAND STUFF. Go back to your Doctor and tell him that you want a script for generic Proscar. It's 5mg finasteride, but you want to get a pill cutter and quarter them. Tell your Doctor that you can't afford propecia, that you're going to start treatments no matter what, and you don't want to resort to having to get overseas generics (basically that's a scare tactic. If he's a good doctor, then the LAST thing he wants you doing is getting overseas generics). He should write you the script, then you go get it filled at walmart with generics and pay $4 for 8 pills (32 day supply). That's what I do :)
