It is important to remember that if you are bald or have thinning hair, it not only affects how you are seen romantically by the opposite sex. It also means you are shunned by all of society including both sexes.

You are thought less of. No one wants to help you when you walk into a store. If you are standing at the front of a line and someone comes up and stands next to the line, they will be called before you.

You will be treated like you are invisible because no one wants to have anything to do with you. Society knows that you should be aware of this and that your place is not out in public. If you choose to thumb your nose at society, society deems it approriate to shun you.

Next time you are out somewhere, look at the amount of bald vs people with hair. Baldness is not normal and you are not normal if you are bald. Know your place.

Actually Baldness is very normal, if unfortunate. While you may believe what you have said is true, it simply isn't. Everyone has their own problems in life, and when the chips are down it is easy to think the world is against you.

If you subscribe to that train of thought things can easily go in a downward spiral. Everyone has problems in life, even Brad Pitt.

I think its easy to be self conscious about being bald, I know I am. But the cliche is true, it means more to you than it does to others. If you have nothing else going on in your life it can be all consuming. Try and have some fun, what's the worst that can happen. Your a long time dead and then everyones bald.

Its more of a confidence issue and how you assume people perceive you. Its hairloss not some kind of disease that can be caught. I know it affects love life since Ive been there but being shunned by society and being called in the line just seems like you have quite deep issues.

Oh, so they don't call the person out of line? I just imagine when this happens? It is my confidence not reality when I am in a store and people who came in after me are helped while I am ignored? This is all an assumption of how people perceive me? Well then it shouldn't have affected your love life. If you think it has then you have deep issues.

As for knowing your place, there are very successful bald people out there who know their place because they put themself there. Just look at the likes of Bruce Willis, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Patrick Stewart to name just a few.

And every single one of these guys would have done better and been more popular if they had hair. No one outsode of wrestling fans knows who Steve Austin is and he is popular as a viliam. Someone people love to hate. I didn't see him in any romantic movies. As for Patrick Stewart, who the hell is he? 3,000,000,000 guys in the world and you name three who you think are a sucess.

Every place I have worked, I am the only guy with no hair. The only one. Look around when you go out and count bald vs hair guys and you will see it is not normal. Women are attracted to guys with hair. Even ones who say it doesn't matter would still prefer a guy with hair and none would ever say a bald guy would look worse with hair. The main purpose of hair is to attract the opposite sex in order to reproduce, so being bald is not normal because it does not encourage reproduction.

The only reason it means more to us than others is because everyone is concerned with their own life. They don't give a crap about you. But for the person looking for a mate, add being bald and now no one will ever give a crap about you.

Me too. Plenty of guys and they don't seem to suffer like some of our forum member brothers. As for someone of 50 being the only bald one, where is he working? Kylie's dad is bald and doesn't get ignored/shunned etc. But then again, I'm just a liar

It's the degree of stigma, that's not agreed. If there was no stigma, this site probably wouldn't exist, nor would (no pun intended) Propecia etc.

Yeah I know many on here probably won't listen but we can certainly keep on drilling this into the many depressed people here.

I too was/still am depressed but don't really allow hair loss to get to me when I'm out and about.

The fact is, socially you shouldn't suffer TOO MUCH. Yeah the odd chick will disregard you because you don't have hair, but the vast majority won't care. I've been to bars/clubs many times myself and have seen many bald men get with HOT chicks. It's all about confidence and how you put yourself out there.
