Side effects on finasteride but not dutasteride?

I have a vague memory of reading a study that reported less side effects for dutasteride as compared to finasteride. For some reason this just doesn't seem medically possible to me. Considering that dutasteride blocks both DHT types and finasteride only one I would imagine sides were worse.

Does anybody have a story about having ZERO sides with dutasteride after being affected with them through taking finasteride?

IF so does anybody know why this might be?

I also have that impression. Just notice the number of side effects post on the propecia board compared to the dutasteride board suggests that there might be something to it. I'd also be interested to know if it's true, and what is the explanation of it.

Maybe dutasteride has lower effect on serum levels.

There is absolutely no reason that dutasteride would cause less side effects. That said I guy like aplunk says he is having fewer sides on dutasteride than he had on finasteride. So maybe ask him.
But I'm sure blocking both types of 5alpha reductase won't cause less sides. Why would it?

I don't really believe whatever this aplunk guy says. He's so biased. I would believe if someone objective such as gourmetstylewellness.com would say that. I remember a guy with the name ugh that kept bombing this forum with messages how wonderful dutasteride is, and a year later he became an impotent.

aplunk seems to be an honest guy, and I dont believe that he is claiming that dutasteride is generally safer, but just that he had worse sides on finasteride than on dutasteride personally.

But I agree with you, personal anecdotes is really no good. What you would need is actual scientific proof. And I dont think you will get any reliable ones that confirm dutasteride being safer than finasteride.
