Hey Dude, this happens to me too.

Any hair gel/wax will help you, but when i see my side getting too big compared to my top, this is my queue to go to the hairdresser again. With thinning hair you should concider going more often then you maybe did in the past.
These days i go every 4 weeks. Sometimes even sooner if theres a special event i need to attend.

I hate this problem...I've decided to stop wasting money on frequent haircuts and now I just buzz my sides and back myself. With practice I've gotten decent at it, but I still hate that I have to do it.

Yeah it sucks lol but i guess its a part of getting older.
Theres not much to do beside get a good haircut and find some treatments that are ok for you.

I have the same thing where the hair at the back of my head grows faster (the back of my head also has the highest density) than the sides and top. I always have to deal with that sh*t when i'm growing out a buzzcut. The best thing to do is keep growing the top out and get the sides buzzed down to a number 2 or something and when the top is big enough let the sides and back grow out.
