Hey all,

I've tried finasteride several times quitting each time first time due to sides and the other times because I wanted to just accept my hair loss (period of time taking finasteride ranged from 12 days to over a month). I had more or less came to accept my hair loss and was enjoying life for the last several years. On a whim after feeling a bit down about my hair situation i decided to take 0.25 mg or maybe 0.5 mg (can't remember exactly) of finasteride approximately 2 weeks ago, I don't think i ever even really intended to start back on finasteride seriously.

All was well and good the two days following this however something really strange happened about 2 night after taking this dose. That being I got no sleep for two days straight seemingly out of the blue and have been going from nights of 2-4 hours of sleep to virtually no sleep and often only being able to fall asleep late into the morning (between 4-5am). I'm starting to get a bit worried as it is approaching 2 weeks of having these symptoms. Has anyone else had significant sleep issues after taking finasteride and how long did it take to resolve if at all? I've had no other sides so far other than a day or two with watery semen and loss of morning erections for a few days which both returned to normal recently.

Thanks for your time.

I've never taken finasteride, but I did take reishi, which is also an ar5 inhibitor. I took it for three months and when I quit, I got the worst insomnia I ever experienced, even though I had always been a great sleeper. Thankfully it got better over time. How are you doing now? If it persists, go to your doctor and don't be afraid to ask for short term medication. Sleep is too important.

thanks for the reply Jables, i went to see a doctor yesterday as my symptoms are still quite bad and he gave me some sleep meds (benzos) which knocked me out. I know its not sustainable to rely on these medications however I'm just praying things will normalise with time.
