I know it's hard when we're so bogged down in this sh*t to be positive BUT;
Just thinking about it, I would give ANYTHING to be able to go back a year and have that hair now. This got me thinking as at the time I was so down and thought the world couldn't get any worse.

What I'm trying to say is basically that us in 10 years time (for those unsuccessful with treatments) would prob give anything to be in our position right now... so try and be positive and make the most of what you've got.

That's my positive post for the day now back to cursing my propecia luck (haha joke! ;) )

True, when I started my finasteride treatment about 5 months ago I was hoping to get some regrowth and a lower hairline. Now I am praying to get back to baseline. It looks so damn thin now, I hope I am lucky and just a late responder.

treatments take a year to kick in, in most cases, if at all. So wait it out.

I've been on a treatment for 10 months, got worse every month! Oh well, at least i'm giving it a shot.

Starting to think minoxidil could be doing more harm that good. When i first tried a few years back, took propecia and minoxidil 12.5% for 6 months - minoxidil only on the front/temples. Back of the head and crown thickened..the place i was going to took photos every month (must have been from propecia) but the front was destroyed !! so jumped off the treatments for more than a year before finding this website. Nowi put minoxidil all over and the shedding has continued ALL OVER (i shave my head and take regular photos so easy to see)...

after 13 months, i'm gonna ditch the minoxidil probably and keep on propecia, adding copper peptides to see if the hair/scalp is being damaged by the alcohol or minoxidil.

Praying I don't jinx this but touch wood, my shed stopped as of this week. FINGERS CROSSED that this'll be followed by regrowth.

(6 months so a month away for you Taugenichts)

edit; it's crazy to think that half a year into the treatment and our aspirations are no more than to hopefully claw our way back in sight of our baseline! :(

Thank you for your encouraging words, guys. Really has helped me. I am definetly gonna stick with finasteride. I have slowly started to accept my NW2 hairline and the fact that I won´t get back the old hairline of my teenage days. But I definetly want some thickening for my existing hair.

This is depressing reading for those of us who only started finasteride in last few weeks :( most of the Guys on finasteride seem pretty happy here I thought with the way things are going in that they are gaining some ground after a few months or at least halting things...

Those on dutasteride seem most positive as less reports of sides etc

The question seems to always remain start on finasteride or dutasteride?

personally I wish that I'd never started on the drug. Two months ago my hair was very similar to this but with higher hairline:
jude-law.jpg

Imagine that picture now with no density and the front 'island' of hair has gone back by nearly an inch and has a bald spot in the front of it. Just today I have had to shave it to grade 4 because the whole of my head has become so thin.

Regrowth? I'm not holding my breath but I am in tears as I write this as I have a passport picture from 2 months ago yesterday in front of me.
If you want I will scan it and then post current pic.

ok will post them up later when my bro gets home with his digi camera...

In the meantime there's an xmas party on sat and it's the 1st time I'll have seen my ex girlfriend pf 4 1/2 years since our split 3 months ago...

I should be going there full of confidence but alas I don't think I can make it looking like this...

No-no-no, you should not go to the party but instead to the nearest club/disco/bar known to have "easy" women. Or maybe you could do that on friday?

Nothing gets you over the last one, like the next one! :D

Cheer up!
