hi guys ive been taking minoxidil for 3 month now , and i'm a good responder to the medicine .
I've got a lot of unwanted hair on my face , so it show that the medicine is greatly absorbed .

Ive noticed some line under my eyes and dark circle under my eye .

So does minoxidil deplete collagen and cause dark circle , it is my main concern. I need advices . thx.

Just like any other drug, minoxidil will affect people in different ways. For me, it definitely bloats my face and makes my skin look crappy. But low doses like 2 percent don't affect me as much so I can tolerate that amount.

Are wrinkles a known side effects of minoxidil? I've been using around 2ml a day (7% mino .01% retA) for 1.5 years, but think I'm at the age I start getting wrinkles so hard to tell.

Using it for 2 years now, not many wrinkles to report. Slightly dark circles? not even sure about that.

I will say it might cause some facial swelling via water retention though. But your body balances that out over time.

Sort of. But without a DHT inhibitor, I still lost some. minoxidil without DHT inhibition can get you a temporary boost for like a year or two. After that, you're screwed.

Just recently started finasteride.

always keep in mind the "the straw that broke the camels back" the oxins in your body sit in your fatty tissue but there is a limit to how much they can absorb before you see things going off track etc rashes, bloating, etc but under eyes is usually lack of sleep or kidneys not flushing enough out

I haven't noticed any negative skin effects from minoxidil, but I have a pretty legit skincare regimen for my face I've been on for the last couple months:

Tretinoin cream at night, a vitamin c serum in the morning followed by sunscreen.
I also take a collagen supplement at night.

As long as you're taking the proper steps to keep your skin young, you should be good, I think. Tretinoin is the gold standard for promoting cell turnover and collagen production. I'd consider getting a prescription for it if you're that concerned about the minoxidil.

Doesn't tretinoin cause a lot of side effects?

Doesn't tretinoin cause a lot of side effects?

Dryness of skin (frequent), erythema (frequent), dermatitis (rare), swelling (rare), blistering (rare), photo-sensitivity (rare).

You're probably thinking of isotretinoin, the isomer of tretinoin that's used orally.

Some people get skin peeling and redness when they first start using it. I never experienced this on the .025%, which is what I use now. My skin has tolerated it quite well. I'll be checking in with my Doctor this week to see about upgrading to .05% (the idea is to ultimately work your way up to .1%, which I believe is the strongest available).

It should put your wrinkles slightly above baseline and prevent them from developing further. By using it though, you're making a full time commitment to wearing sunscreen...this is super important to understand if you decide to use tretinoin.

Adapalene is a good alternative. Skin irritation is almost non-existent with adapalene.

My derm used to perscribe me adapalene for acne. Tretinoin is also used for acne. Wrinkle prevention was discovered to be an unintended benefit.
