So a few months ago I came to that startling realization that I am becoming one of you. :)

I think the hair all over the top of my head is a bit thinner, but the main noticeable issue is that the very front center of my hair seems to have less hair count and smaller follicles, and those hairs grow slower. I also have been having some itching on my scalp.

I do not believe the the side effects of the oral treatments are worth risking for a cosmetic problem. I just got some folligen in the mail and have been using nizoral for a couple of weeks now.

Can anyone tell me what else I should use to try and inhibit further loss to the front of my hair (other than the oral dht blockers)? Or should I just pick something and go with it?

you are not very far along on your hairloss so try to think about it with an open mind. if you want to go a more natural route there's lots of stuff you can TRY but no one really knows if any of it will work. some of it works for some people, but that's like saying some batteries work in some applications. i think if your hair loss was further along you would be more motivated to do something about it, and more willing to try an oral DHT blocker like finasteride or dutasteride.

if you're set on avoiding meds like this, i suggest at least adding minoxidil.

Nobody wants sexual sides. You have to understand that if you stop taking the oral DHT inhibitors, any sides that appeared will vanish. So you will never know until you actually try it. If you get sides you can quit.

If you still are againist oral treatment AT LEAST go for minoxidil. Actually i would suggest minoxidil, even if you decided to pop-up the pills.

Maybe it is just because I am 25 and single, but I don't really see why I would really care if I had hair or not if I was limp, had no libido, urinated constantly, and had breasts.. I know everyone doesn't encounter these side effects, but it seems like a good percentage of people do. Plus, I know I would drive my self nuts worrying about whether or not I was having ED until I DID have ED.

I am not opposed to trying minoxidil, although the idea of walking around with a greasy irritated shedding head every day doesn't seem particularly appealing. My understanding though was that it was only effective on the back of the top of the head? (that is the crown right?) I also had read that it was more for people who had shiny bald spots and not just thinning?

I guess I am hoping people can suggest something low maintenance that I can just spray in there at night or shampoo with that may help inhibit the loss, rather than having one of these 16 step regimens with a host of side effects.

I keep my hair buzzed and if it falls out, it falls out. I would obviously prefer it didn't, but I don't feel like it is going to ruin my life as much as obsessing over my regimen and flushing money down the toilet on products will - especially when it seems so tough to figure out what is effective and what is not.

Thanks again.

Order Finpecia and take it before you sleep if you take it during the day you could be drowsy , you should try minoxidil foam there is hardly any shedding / irritation and you can start taking it once a day when you think there is enough regrowth and want maintenance only , a 3 month supply of Finpecia is 70 $ and a month of foam minoxidil is 12 $ which is really cheap I believe ! good luck to you !

Eat vitimans. Drink some green tea on the weekends. Use a lazer comb. Yeah..... that'll work.

I can see you have done a great deal of research and found out that many people get limp dicks and breasts from propecia. Moreover, you don't want to look like some minoxidil greaseball. My above regimen should suit you fine.

2 products spironolactone cream (mainly used for the hairline, not sure whether you need it) and Rogaine foam. Good Luck!

Try ROGAINE FOAM! That version of minoxidil is very easy to apply and it dries quickly (literally in minutes) and its not greasy. Also, minoxidil is for thinning as well (since thats a form of male pattern baldness also).

Is this chart accurate? The rate of decay with minoxidil is identical to that with no medication? so minoxidil is essentially only delaying your losses by 7 years?

I appreciate the info on finasteride by I just can't come up with any rational explanation that leads me to thinking it is a good idea to manipulate my hormones by putting drugs in my body in order to change my cosmetic appearance.

do any of the topical dht inhibitors work at all?

WorldOfWarcraft - You seem to be sarcastic yet there wasn't anything inaccurate about what I said, was there? I'll shave my head and go to the gym while you obsess over your regimen and sit on your *** playing wow. i bet with all that finasteride you play alliance on a rp pve server too :)

The best evidence seems to suggest that. Vera Price said that minoxidil provides an "offset" of extra growth, meaning that losses continue, even though there is a little more hair each step of the way than there would have been without the minoxidil.

I'd much rather have my hair and do push-ups at home then be a maniac at the gym whilst shaving my head. And if you were smart, you'd know most chicks would much rather you have hair than a built body.

All this being said, WoW cares way too much what other people do.

WoW, relax man. In the end all that matters is if you grow hair. You don't hang out with these people....

haha are you freakin out of your mind? i think you guys are completely out of perspective. these meds are rotting your brains.

so who do you think can get more action? bill gates or vin diesel? napolean dynamite or bruce willis? regardless, i think confidence goes further than either of these. i don't think many women are attracted to guys with obsessive insecurities about their hair.

isn't the stat something like 40% of men begin male pattern baldness by age 30? i think women will just have to deal with facts of life.

and i wasn't necessarily referring to attracting women anyway - i was referring to being healthy.

finally, looking at most people's progress pics, hardly anyone is growing back a full head of hair.. i am sorry but going from a norwood 5 to a 3 is still being bald. that is the bottom line. clinging to three extra vellus hairs is really worth all of this nonsense?

I'd rather be unhealthy and have hair, but that's just me.

And whose a NW3? I'm not. But I got hair transplants, so I guess I cheated. :D

P.S. I'm gonna start hitting the gym. My guess is all the extra testosterone I'll have from it not being reduced to DHT will make working out easier, not harder. I've never gone to the gym though, except a few times when I was a teenager..so I won't be able to compare.

well bill gates is a fuckin bazillionaire so i dont think hes a good example, not that your other ones are great.

but you matched a full haid of hair geek(napoleon) up against a stud like bruce willis.

if we're going to use celebrities, how about this?

who would get more action from girls, bruce willis or brad pitt? it's brad pitt and it's not close. he has the body that bruce does, at least an equal face, and a much better head of hair.

but honestly here's the truth. a good face is more important than hair or body. girls notice the face more than anything.

like me for example. i have a good looking face. my hair is in decent shape too but even if i lose it and have to shave it, and go to the gym, i'll still be able to pull chicks. it's the guys that dont have good looking faces that hair loss will really hurt their confidence.

Well said JayMan....

Although, I am an attractive guy with hair...without hair, I'm ugly. Sometimes hair is so very important to one's looks.

I don't even look good when my hair is not styled. I know it's not just me seeing things, it's the truth.

you'd better not lose it then. i've buzzed mine down to 1/8th inch
as you know and it doesn't scare me. i've seen what i would look like with a shaved head and while i obviously wouldn't look as good with that and a receding hairline as i would with a full head of hair(as if anyone does lol), i can deal with it.

i dont think ill ever get to that point since i'm on the avodart but i've at least prepared myself for the possibility.

i can pull off the shaved head, but i hate to shave it every morning :D
so i came to the conclusion, that i had to grow it out, the first weeks it looked bad since im thinning on topp and the hair on my sides where darker, so i colored it... looks better now.

Prevention is the key word. Many users want to make sure they never reach the stages of hairloss when they are considered bald by other people.
