So Nizoral is selling for around $109?

I was buying my Nizoral online for $30 a bottle but the prices have skyrocketed. Anyone know of good alternatives to get rid of this itch. The run-of-the-mill dandruff shampoos don't work for me. :/

I just dished out $65 for a bottle and there's no doubt the vendor added water to it. Most likely to make two bottles out of one.

I spoke to a rep at Johnson and Johnson and he says Nizoral will be back soon. Soon could mean anything but his point was that its not gone forever.

I can walk to any pharmacy and buy any Nizoral bottle I want but then again I'm in Europe, this seems for US.

Wow, that would be infuriating. I've been afraid to purchase from independent sellers because of reasons like this. I was just purchasing from drugstore.com in the last year but they are out of stock now.

Boots and other European retailers are worth looking into, I suppose it just depends on shipping costs. In the meantime, minoxidil keeps the itch down.

Actually, I just got off the phone with a representantive from Johnson and Johnson. They DO NOT have a date just yet. He told me pretty much the same thing that you were told. The only thing that makes me happy is that is not discountinue. Hopefully it will be soon.

I hope they hurry up. I slowly feel the itch and the bumps starting to come back. I think I have seb dermatitus and this has helped tremendously.

I just bought two bottles for 17$ at Costco here in Canada. It's 2% Nizoral and they seems to have a lot of this product in stock.

Eh who cares its pretty overrated anyways and its never really been formally proven to treat male pattern baldness. It does not say anything about that on the bottle nor do derms or docs recommend it as a big treatment for male pattern baldness. Its just something use for peace of mind they are trying everything they can, but really I dont think it does that much other then fight dandruff.

Overrated ?

"2% KCZ shampoo was found to improve hair density and the size and proportion of anagen follicles in androgenetic alopecia (Androgenetic Alopecia) and, in combination with finasteride, to have an additive effect for Androgenetic Alopecia"

Who claimed it treated male pattern baldness? Link??

There have been numerous studies proving Ketoconazole sampoo (specifically Nizoral), is beneficial in a hair loss treatment regimen when combined with Finasteride.

Search for 2 seconds. on hairlosshelp.com and you should get pages of references to academic journal articles on this subject.

I received this email back from McNeil-PPC customer service on Feb 26th. Not good news :(

Thank you for contacting McNEIL-PPC, Inc., makers of NIZORAL® A-D (ketoconazole) Shampoo 1%. It is always important to hear from our consumers, and we appreciate the time you have taken to contact us.

Over the past several months, we have been upgrading our manufacturing facilities to make sure we bring you the McNeil products you and your family use for many generations to come. As we do that, we expect there will continue to be supply disruptions.

A number of products have been either unavailable or in short supply due to the complexity of remediating our Lancaster, PA manufacturing facility and other plants as we work to fulfill our commitments under a Consent Decree with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Unfortunately, we expect supply uncertainty to continue throughout 2013.

We understand that the limited availability of products creates an inconvenience for the people who trust our products and rely on them. We recommend that consumers consult their healthcare providers or pharmacists for alternative OTC products while we work through the timing of our products’ availability. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we make these improvements on our end. On behalf of all McNeil employees, please accept my sincere apology for any inconvenience this may cause.

Again, thank you for your interest in our company. Should you have any comments or questions in the future, please contact us via our website www.nizoral.com or by calling our toll-free number, 1-800-962-5357. Our specialists are available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. EST and will be happy to assist you.

And here is the consent decree issued by the FDA that they had to comply with.

As far as I'm concerned it's stopped the itch which decreases the shed so it is beneficial. Maybe you don't apply it right.

I use it every other day, applying it twice which each application lasting 5 minutes

Thanks for the link! I bought about three bottles for the equivalent of around $70. Not a bad deal for overseas shipping I don't think.

If you have a tub- get on your knees and wash your hair prior to taking a shower. Just lean over the tub and let the 'poo sit on your head. Knee pads are optional.
Or use a sink if you have to. Rinse off when you start your shower.

thank you, Jacob for the reply! I was just curious how people do it because some say that they leave it in during shower and I was like really? how? :hmmm:

I forgot to mention...a hand held shower hose thingy works the best.

Some of the 'poo I use I leave on for 5 minutes or more. My showers normally don't last that long. I guess I could stand there and sing..but what a waste of water.

Hmm, Im not sure but I usually sit down in the shower and relax, weird I know haha. Since I have long hair I keep it slicked back with the shampoo.
