They sell regaine at the local drug stores, not in the USA.. Im in Asia. Dont want to deal with asian qwack doctors here.. they will just see dollar signs when I walk in and sell me herbs or some tea. I take skin, hair, nail vitamins, biotin shampoo or baby shampoo. Never use a hot blowdryer ever. Mom has thick hair, 3 older brothers thick hair... dad ( balding pretty much the way I look.. but allot less at 80+ years old.) Thanks in advance.

Actually the first photo is a myth... my hair is just so thin... but I have allot of it, as in pic #2.... the first pic makes it look like its to the skin completely. Regardless, obviously something is going on. Do you think I will look ok with a buzzcut? What do I say, cut it down to as low on top? Or do I spike my hair with products and maybe this will camoflague it? But at 40, spike hair ( no offense seems abit childish for my personality... a complete clash... I cant be ON! 24/7 which spiked hair to me implies. Calm me down, feed me your thoughts. Thanks in advance.

Get on the "Big 3", i.e. Minoxidil, Finasteride, and Ketoconazole ASAP. At your stage I think it could really help thicken up your crown where you appear to have the most thinning. Spiking it is a bad idea in my opinion as I think any styling gels will only exacerbate the appearance of thinning. I would trim it down a bit so it's not laying down so much in order to give the appearance of more volume. In addition go find a good thickening shampoo/conditioner and/or concealing agent like Toppik. These will make make your thinning less noticeable while the Big 3 do their magic. Based on your situation I really think you have a good shot a restoring a lot of your hair. Good luck bro!

I agree with Sharpe. You hairline is still pretty normal despite it being thin. You still have hair on your crown, but it is very thin. finasteride along with religiously using minoxidil will make a night and day difference. Start now and take pictures every 3 months. Post the pictures on here to boost the morals of others!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, Most of the products I read about talk about increase in dandruff and that there will be MORE thinning and hair loss in the beginning of treatment. This is scary because you have to lose more at first to potentially gain it back later with no guarantee. So to me its like accelerating the loss, and that really bothers me. Am I wrong? What is the average cost for a year of treatment?

$200 - $300 a year or cheaper (if you get a generic 5mg finasteride and cheap minoxidil off ebay). cheers

I agree with everything that has been said so far. My hair loss is similar to yours - little if any frontal loss and pretty aggressive loss on the crown. After 3.5 months on the big three, my crown has thickened significantly (by the six month mark I'm hoping my loss will be undetectable to anyone who isn't looking closely). Get on the big three asap and you likely have a chance of cosmetically significant regrowth.

Thanks badgenetics for your post, question to you: I saw your pics in this post , did you experience significant more loss when you started your regiment? This is my main fear.. applying chemicals only to lose more at first to hopefully gain it back. It just seems so false and a big risk. Like removing natural hair to grow chemically enhanced hair in its place.
