Over the last 6 months I've been loosing my hair, and it really sucks because I have never even thought that I might become bald, even though there are some relatives of mine who has lost some of their hair. It's mostly my hair line and especially the area above my temples that are receding. I only recently discovered it but I think it actually started during summer. I'm considering buzzing it but not shaving, although I'd much rather get on some treatment that actually prevents it since I looked like a moron the only time I had a buzzed hair cut. Now I'm feeling really depressed, which is a first for me. I've always been a happy guy but and I have no idea how to deal with this so I would appreciate advice on how to reverse all the negative thoughts. Do they become worse over time, or do they eventually fade away?
Anyway, this is what I looked like in august and what I look like now:

As it has just begun, how are my chances of preventing further loss, or even growing it back?

Well first of all you look good and your hair looks good.
I am experiencing the same thing in early stages as well, and the best advice I have gotten so far is not to obsess over it, and it and to make sure that you massage your head when shampooing to initiate more blood-flow and hair-growth.

looks alright mate. youve got the start of a receeding hairline - mines in about the same place and id guess im about the same age as you.
If you want it stop retreating you will need to start taking some treatments though. youve come to the right place and made a start so...its upto you what to use. id suggest propecia and revita shampoo about 4 x a week as a start.

You need to take better pics. Those show little besides a possible receeding hairline. But that doesn't mean it'll lead to male pattern baldness. Take overhead shots, profile, under lighting. Unstyled too. If you want to get the best advice here.

You need to take better photos, your hair in the pictures looks wild, did you take it that way for the photo or do you style your hair this way? Seems too puffy, when losing it in the front you want it slightly longer in the front and the rest layered/shorter not the other way around, brings the wrong attention to your hairline. We cannot tell what your situation is with the crown or temples with these angles. Remember longer hair is not good when a hairline is receding you seem to have thick hair with a thinning hairline. My advice is take better photos but from those two photos you posted at least propecia to stop the progression and if you want to thicken up maybe rogaine, but I would at least get on Propecia, but post better photos please.

Rich

Actually, post better pics before listening to anyone telling you to go onto anything esp if you don't understand those drugs and their effects on your hair and system. Or you may ruin perfectly good hair. Even with what looks like POSSIBLE recession it could be a mature hairline or just how it goes; not everyone who recedes a bit gets male pattern baldness. Don't be so self-conscious about posting; no one knows who you really are, if you want the best advice post the right kinds of pics.
