Sometimes, I see some new started threads of people asking wether they have been balding or just getting a mature hairline. Some idiots comment and say that they are balding because they are way beyond where a mature hairline would normally be, but where the hell would it be? Why do you think someone who is past a Norwood 2 is balding? They aren't in some cases. It's not always, but in some cases. For example, my grandpa got a Norwood 3 hairline in his twenties and died with it, didn't even have time to start to diffusely thin on the top of his head. However, I'm not here to talk about my family without providing any pics because some of you definitely wouldn't believe that type of thing but guess what? I can name some people who definitely are past a NW2 (not a NW3 yet though) who haven't shown any signs of further recession, and they AREN'T using any type of treatment. I just want to say there ISN'T a specific pattern a mature hairline should look like, there simply isn't. Sometimes people recede so much they reach a NW4 with nothing at the vertex, and then stabilize, but that would be in very extreme cases. But seriously, some people CAN reach a NW3 and then totally stop receding.

DO you guys want some examples of some celebs who definitely aren't going to go bald and are definitely past what most of you would consider a mature hairline? Take a look at Andrew Lincoln, Johnny Depp, Tom Felton, Chris Martin, Ewan McGregor, HARRY STYLES (his father's not bald, and he hasn't receded any further since harry was born)... If they were the ones who were posting here, most of you would DEFINITELY say they were balding, but guess what? their hairlines haven't shown any signs of further recession!

I'm not saying that just for people to calm down, in fact, it's always better to prepare for the worst and keep what you still have just in case it actually IS balding, but you can't take a look at a thick hairline that doesn't seem to be thinning at all and tell the person that it's PAST a mature hairline because it's far too receded. Seriously, you just CAN'T.

Because they are. Nobody has a "mature hairline" at NW3.

Some people bald to a certain Norwood and stay, yes. You are more than welcome to roll the dice and hope you stop at NW3 and not NW4 or NW5. Finasteride and other meds are all about saving as much hair as possible.

Is this a joke? Depp has definitely receded from a Norwood 2 closer to a NW3 over the years. He hides it well recently. No telling if he takes meds either. Felton balded rapidly and also probably got on meds to stop it since he's an actor. Chris Martin was very very vocal about his balding he almost certainly had work done because he has a better hairline than before- at the very least he's also on meds. Harry Styles is also vocal about his recession and guess what, is probably on meds too. HIS FATHER HAD A HAIR TRANSPLANT FOR CHRIST'S SAKE. As far as I know, mcgregor was never balding.

So everyone you listed has either had hair transplants or could easily be on medication. So much for your theory.

I'm sorry but you sound like you're in the denial phase man. I'm not making fun of you either. I understand 100% how much balding can mess with you psychologically. I do think that sometimes we here on hair forums diagnose people over the internet too quickly. I do not think men should just pop finasteride and invest in minoxidil if they aren't even sure they're balding. But once it becomes clear they are...it's up to them what they want to do.

I was clearly receded, 3 years ago. Was in denial. People on forums told me to start finasteride. I got just as angry as you. 3 years later I'm just about to start finasteride finally, after years of denial and worrying about the "side effects" before even trying finasteride. I've lost part of my hairline over the 3 years I doubt I will get back. If I am lucky, I can reverse the past 2-3 years, but that just means if I had started back then I'd have even more hair from the treatments.

With hairloss, it's better to start meds too early than too late. It's a paradox that most of us will fall victim to though, because if you start too early, how do you ever really know? As with most aspects of hairloss treatment, things must get worse before they get better. How much worse you let them get is up to you.

How is this post even relevant? You just sound like a little whiney b*tch who's in denial, refusing to take finasteride because you don't got the balls to take it. Keep telling yourself you're not going to go bald. One day you will go bald and that will be the day you stop getting pussy and turn gay.

I'm not in the denial phase. My dad's a NW3 at 68 and has been NW3 since he was in his 20s. If you want me to send you a pic of his hairline I'll do it. My uncles from both sides of the family also got pretty bad hairlines such as NW2.5s and NW3s, but none of them started thinning on top until they were in their 50s. I'm currently NW2, and my dad told me at this age his hairline was much higher than mine currently is. I understand what will possibly happen to me and am gonna start using minoxidil, but bald? Not really.

Did you say anything about andrew lincoln? His hairline was already like that in his 20s, and never progressed amy further. The same goes to Ewan. But seriously, I've seen posts here of people with much better hairlines than these guys and most of you told them they were balding, even though i could see no thinning at all.
