Here, we investigated the role of wigs as assistive devices by using PIADS and found that wigs improve perceived QOL, such as competence, adaptability and self-esteem, and that the effect correlates with the extent of satisfaction in their appearance when using wigs. Furthermore, the improvement of competence and adaptability correlates with Androgenetic Alopecia severity, suggesting that its impact on QOL is enhanced by greater appearance change when using the wig. However, that of selfesteem does not correlate with Androgenetic Alopecia severity, speculatively because of possible negative emotional influence on selfesteem by severer Androgenetic Alopecia.

Of course they are worth it. If they are good quality and look good and are undetectable, they're by far superior to being bald. Sure, it's not the same as if it was your own hair, but what can you expect? Everything has pro's and cons.

I felt so excited when I got my first wig because I was so happy to have something I could run a brush through and style again.
