Could it be that hair follicles in your hairline are more susceptible to testosterone and less to DHT but hair in your vertex area is more susceptible to DHT and less to testosterone? Both are of course affected by androgens but each part of the scalp to a different type of testosterone.

I was wondering about this when you can regrow hair easier in your vertex with propecia and it could be why some people's hairlines take hit when they switch to dutasteride.

I don't think anyone knows cause there isn't research being done and if there is it could be companies are keeping it to themselves for now.
