I have a pug. For any people who don't know anything about them, pugs are prone to a lot of facial irritation, because of their wrinkles. Well, mine was no exception. His face got pretty sore and he lost a LOT of hair on his face, to the point of having almost bald patches.
We heard from somewhere that you can use diaper rash cream on the wrinkles, so we picked up a tube of Huggies diaper rash cream with zinc oxide. We put it on his sore spots daily, and it grew his hair back. And I don't mean, "Hey, I think it might be growing back." It grew back super thick and full density.
Now I know my dog's issue was not male pattern baldness, but does zinc oxide (the only real ingredient in the cream, besides mineral oil) have some sort of stimulation effect on hair? My dog has complete and thick coverage on his face and there is not even a trace of his previous loss.
