Somewhat grave question -erection issue after stopping fins?

Edit. If the mods feel this should be in the 'dealing with side effects' section, that's fine. I'm sort of fishing here though because I don't know if the finasteride is the culprit.

Hello.
I've been on finasteride (proscar, 1.25mg every other day) for almost two years. During the last few months, I've had some issues when taking it right before going to bed (and especially when drinking some water or having an ejaculation the same evening) - I've had to get up in the middle of the night to pee.

Over the time, I've also been forced to stand and pee after having sat, to empty the bladder, but this has not been a large thorn in my side, to be honest.

Four days ago though, I started having issues to initiate passing water. It just happened, all of a sudden. I stopped the proscar, as a safety precaution, and two days ago, as I was about to sleep, my testicles started hurting. They hurt just enough to make it near impossible to sleep, but not enough to double over when standing. The pain has been coming and going since then, so I went to a GP today, who explained that nothing was infected and bade me come back if it persisted.

Well, later today I made another discovery. My ability to achieve an erection is effectively 0. I believe it must have been this way since two days ago, when the pain started. Since I am scared, I am honest: This has never ever happened before.

My question is: What the hell has happened? I've heard that fins make some people have less erections, and a few have more and harder, and I've been part of the second group. Can this be a finasteride-withdrawal syndrome, or has something gone seriously to heck? I mean, problems passing water may be due to an enlargened prostate, but this doesn't in itself mean darned erectile issues.

I am on the verge of taking a fourth of finasteride, to see if the issues go away, or become worse. Would it be worth it?

Many thanks for your patience. I don't want to make anyone depressed, but I just don't feel very happy at the moment myself :(

so did u stop finasteride or not? those sound like pretty serious sides to me you're having. i'd stop the propecia if i were u but if u want to give 0.25mg of finasteride every day a go it might be a good idea too. good luck!

Hey MBPwarrior, many thanks for replying.

Yes, I did stop taking fins last sunday or monday. (Well..I didn't intend to stop right then, but that is when I took the last one)

I have stopped taking it for almost a week before and not had any 'withdrawal' symptoms, so I don't really believe the finasteride is the only culprit.

Seems odd also that I'd get symptoms when I stop taking it that people usually get when they start! :(

The erection issue is the real downer though. It wasn't mental before I first noticed it, but it is that, too, now- eventhough by now, if it were only mental, I have a hard time believing I'd have this issue..

So prostatitis can cause erectile dysfunctions, from what I read, but it seems odd that it'd happen like That, in a heartbeat, doesn't it?

But what else can it be? Around the day of the last finasteride and penicillin - issues with initiation of passing water - until two days later, when I get sudden pain in the testicles; not acute, but pretty bad, which comes and goes but gets generally better as the days go by (not entirely well yet, however), and then the bloody absolute inability to get an erection, where on on the day when the pain started, before it started, that ability was pretty sky-high.

I'm lost. And I've this creeping suspicion that my GP won't find any bacteria in the pee sample, and then tell me to get a grip or some such. I hear prostatitis really can't be cured, and non-bacterial such can't even be detected directly.

If anyone'd like, I can update this when I've gotten a reply from that though.

I really appreciate any words anyone puts in this thread, I really do.

Just wanted to add some light to what would have easily seemed like darkness forever: The erection problem appears, at least, INTERMITTENT!! This may seem like cheering over a straw unburned when the rest of the village has gone up in smoke, but aalright! Now there is still pain...something has gone rather awry, but not straight to hell, I hope..

Edit.So tonight the libido is as strong as when having just taken finasteride, normally...tomorrow it'll probably be naught again; and the other two issues remain..I wonder what has gone out of whack.

Sorry if I'm a bit out of line :/
