guys, i must have been fooled by my own eye. i really thought i was improving, i really did, but my hair is looking like absolute sh*t this past week. it has receeded a ton it seems in only a few weeks, the hair up front is thinning fast and i am getting back to a similar state of depression that i was in when this all started. never going out, not looking forward to the future, stuff like that. i try SO damn hard to keep a positive spin on things, but i just keep on falling back down. all i freaking wanted was a little tiny regrowth up front and some f*****g maintenance. 83% of people have success, there's no one bald in my family, and i have to be a balding guy without regimen success. that's some piss poor luck. on top of it all, i don't have the typical balding pattern that its this shitass norwood 1.5 that just looks unhealthy and wispy, to be honest, i would be more than happy with, some recession over time, fine, as long as i could spike it up without looking like a f*****g unhealthy piece of sh*t that i do now, gel won't even hold the hair up anymore, really down in the dumps guys, 6.5 months and things seem worse. hair loss sucks. i try to stay positive in my posts usually cause i hate the negativity, but i just really need to vent and screaming out loud in the middle of the night will just wake people up. if this negative post pisses you off, i apologize, but i'm really having a hard time :-(

ps, i seem to be shedding on top of it all. fantastic.

Trent,

I've read some of your posts, and you seem like a nice guy. I know how tough this hairloss dilemma can be. I used to go through phases of depression just like you. I woke up feeling unhappy and not looking forward to the day. I didn't even want to get out of bed sometimes. But I'm starting to accept it now and move on with my life.

Life can and will go on despite hairloss. Have you thought about buzzing your head? I didn't think I had a good head shape for it, but I did it anyway and it was a great decision. I'm just going on with my life and working on the things I have control over. Like my body, my confidence, my education, and my career.

I realize this might not help you feel better in the short term, but you have to think long term. Do you want to let your hair control you? If you fold your hand and let hairloss take over, it will show. For me, being a man is not about how much hair I have on my head. It comes from inside. Cultivate that kind of attitude and people will not notice your hairloss as much as you think.

Anyway, just trying to give you a little pep talk. I know how hard it can be to come out those depressive states, but you have to do it. Whatever happens, never give up on yourself.

Trent, I have felt just like that from time to time. Many varied factors can trick you into thinking you are getting better and then one day you look in the mirror and realize that it looks worse than ever.

2 days ago I posted on a subject that EVERYBODY freaks about. Shedding.
I believe I have got my 6 month shed to stop within a week. You would think everyone would chime in and at least comment on it. The post just faded away like our wispy hairlines.
Due to the regimen I used, I suspect they thought I was having one of those delusional times and I would later regret posting such a ridiculous topic. So far, better results yet!

My hair looks healthier, feels softer, and yes very few falling hairs. I tell no lie. I have a few new ones come up in areas that were bare for over 10 years.
Here's what I did.

#1. Apply Borage seed oil to my scalp.(gamma linoleic acid)
#2. Apply copper peptide solution (reduces inflammation)
#3. Appy Emu oil (carrier & penetrant oil)

I leave it on all night and wash in the morning. Sometimes I leave it on all day if I can wear a cap. Try it. It can't hurt to try.

I go through similar phases to you and have a similar hairloss pattern and i have been taking finasteride for pretty much exactly the same time as you.

I'm goign througha good phase at the moment, my hair seems to be just starting to look a little better than it did a month or so ago. But my hair is defintely still worse than it was when i started finasteride.

I have been using minoxidil for 4 months now as well which may be starting to work.

I'm not sure.

I have recently started using the lasercomb as well(this week) on recommendation from a colleague. He has definitely started to thicken up the front and temples - and he doesn't use anything else at all.

I've only used it twice but it does seem to make your hair look and feel fuller after using it. It's up to you, i know they're expensive but in the long run, it's not much to pay at all if it works.

I can't really comment yet but I have seen results on my colleague and heard good reports from Viperfish and a few others.

Some people have say it hasn't worked for them, but i'm guessing these are desperate guys that have extensive male pattern baldness, and are looking for a miracle cure for their norwood 5's. I think it will compliment use of finasteride and minoxidil very well.

It may be worth taking the plunge into that before you start minoxidil, if you do start minoxidil defnitely go for Dr Lee's quick drying stuff.

For thickening your front cosmetically, I suggest using a couple of things.

1. Cut down on your nizoral washes - they dry your hair out and excessive washing robs your head of 'good' bacteria' as well as bad. Thus leaving your hair shitty looking all the time.

2. after washing your hair, run some TIGI X-wax over your hair and comb through. This thicken your hair a treat and revives wispy hairs.

3. then run a dry dermatch applicator around in the dry dermatch disc and gently run it over the frontal hair (make sure your hair is still slightly damp) and comb it through. You need very little dermatch to do this and it disguises your thin spots a treat.

4. then style your with more TIGI X-Wax and finish of your spiky style with some conditioning hairspray like Pantene.

I am a master at this, I wish I could show some guys how to do it in person - it really does not show up at all in bright lights or anyhting.

PM me if you need more advice on styling, cutting or concealing. I have worked in the industry in the past.

Photos would help to so i can see hair type and facial structure.

I feel for you trent. You really want the treatment to work, and when it does not seem to work it hits your hard. I look at the mirror all the time and wonder how I will end up.

I get periods when my hair looks crap and then all of a sudden it looks good for a period. It could be a couple of months of crap and then 3 months of great.

I think you really need to keep on the treatment for at least a year. I know it's hard and a struggle but that's my best advice. Is there any chance that you can post up some pics so that we can appraise your hair.

What you see and what other people see could be two different things altogether.

Keep us informed....

Oh gees Trent:( You've done a very very good thing here seriously. By venting and knowing that you've got that place to vent, you may even help your hair out without even knowing it:) We're here for you Trent. Vent when you need to eh?:)

thanks guys, i'm doing a little better today. I really want to believe that the full year for treatment is for a reason, because you can get results up until this point, but its so hard when you read so few posts that say: hair seems to be on and off, then BAM regrowth at month 8, and easy riding from here on out. if everyone on here were saying this, i wouldn't be nearly as worried. but i don't. as for pics, i don't even own a camera :-( med school doesn't pay well.
