Spectral DNC/DNC-L/RS

I have been using Rogaine foam for 6 months now and I am not really satisfied with the results. At first it made a nice difference in the front but not much change in the crown, where my biggest issue is. Now my baldness is almost back to where it was when I started. For that reason, I would like to try out some more elaborate products.

What is the difference between DNC and DNC-L with regards to the ingredients? I have a hard time finding information about this, even on DS's site. They say that DNC-L is for Norwood 4 or 5 (I am about a 2-3 diffuse thinner), but of course customers would want the strongest type so wouldn't everyone go for DNC-L?

Regarding the fact that DNC is a spray and DNC-L is a cream, which one is easier to apply? For DNC-L, does it take forever to massage the cream through the hair? Will the hair inevitably stick together and stay wet or creamy which will make the baldness even more obvious? Is the cream really thick or a bit watery?

Also, I hear so much discussion about new formulas, new consistencies, smells, colors, etc. Have DS Labs finally settled on one type or is each batch pretty much a surprise? Do the newest batches still tint your scalp orange? Also did they fix the pumps?

Has anyone switched from plain Rogaine to DNC or DNC-L and seen obviously better results?

I'm also considering Spectral RS because since minoxidil is extremely toxic to cats (I have 2), I am constantly worrying about where I put my hands, trying not to touch my hair, being careful not to lay down (which is why I can't use it before bed). Using Spectral RS, I would be a lot more at ease although I'm sure it is much less effective. Does anyone get decent results with it?

I appreciate any advice or comments you can give me.

Thanks :)

RS is ingredients minus minoxidil
DNC-L is like a cream. I dont recommend that. It sticky and stain.

The new new new DNC seems to be using the original ingredients. Which from my experience do work. But i cant find a place that guarantees that i get the new batch.
batch number is like 070210 exp 02/13

if u find a internet carrier that does let me know.

I think DNC is more powerful than Rogaine. I used both foam and liquid

Spectral DNC is minoxidil in liquid form with other ingredients as mentioned.

Spectral DNC is minoxidil plus other ingredients in lotion form. It's not sticky at all. I'm currently using it. However, it does stain white clothing or the pillow if you don't allow it to dry.
If you don't rub it in properly or you apply too much, it will leave a small yellow crust.

Spectral RS - never used it but might need to be corrected. I believe it does not contain minoxidil.

to say it short, I like the stuff.

There was a batch which did not work like it used to. But now they've changed the formula back again, I suspect it's the polyphenols, and it's working like a charm.

My hair stopped shedding and the itching has gone away, and I'm seeing vellus hairs growing at my temples again. Last time this happend I went 2 years back in hair status in about 5 months before the crappy batch took away my progress. I'm hoping to regain the gains and take it a bit further with this batch.

But I guess time will tell. I suspect nearly all suppliers will be having the 07XXX batch in store so getting this batch is not a big problem. Just send them an e-mail asking what batch they are selling.

Ive been using DNC in the morning and DNC-L in the evening for about 6 weeks. Both are very easy to apply and dry completely and none greasy in about 15mins. Then I can just comb my hair normally - the DNC actually acts like a decent holding mousse.

The difference between DNC and DNC-L is the DNC-L also has 3 5-aplha-reductase inhibitors to stave off the scalp DHT.

The DNC-L looks and feels a bit like mustard!! just dont put too much on, rub it in well and you'll have no problem

Good luck matey

Oh, and by the way, I thought rogaine foam was sh*t

I also use both Spectral.DNC & Spectral.DNC-L. I've always been a fan of the former which made my vellous hair appear for the first time since years ago. But I under-dosed & interrupted my treatment so they remain as vellous. Now I'm upping my game with the latter as well and some vellous are darkening & strengthening already. New hair also start sprouting on top so now I need to shave my head (with Remington Shortcut Clipper setting 1) once every 3 days instead of weekly to maintain the overall outline.

thanks but i live in US, so euro and extra delivery cost will hurt. I ordered from Follica website. Hopefully its new version. I got an email saying that all their stuff is the newest batch. But i doubt they checked. If it isnt, then i can just complain and get another batch for free most likely. One perk of US customer service.

wow this all sounds very positive!

I personally feel a weird affinity for the DS Labs products, they just seem to be well-designed, intelligent, and of course also well branded lol

I have a bit of an uncertainty still about minoxidil (hearing about the possibility of hairs becoming minoxidil "dependant", and the wrinkles and dark circles often associated with minoxidil) and also assumed there must be something special about Nizoral to justify it's reputation, hence my choosing of Spectral RS over DNC and Nizoral over Revita.

So, they have changed the DNC formula back (or at least improved/changed it again)? That's GREAT news! I was unhappy to read that people were experiencing poor results on one of the more recent formulas - I'm very glad they have listened to people and changed it again!

Good on you DS Labs! ^^

How bad is a Spectral DNC shed compared to regular minoxidil shed?

Also, while Spectral seems like a great product, and I don't mean to be rude here but I can't seem to find many Spectral DNC users who has had solid regrowth? Instead, most posts I've read thus far from the archives all seem to suggest stopping at the vellus stage, is this correct? Any experienced users care to give your two cents on this subject? Much thanks. :sobbing:

i'm currently using spectral dnc-l for 6 weeks and i've been shedding for a week now. I dont know whether it is shed because i quit the foam 3months ago or because of the spectral.

i wrote them and they said it was the new batch

their site claims it's the new batch

ya, i looked under the bottle. i also compared a lot of the stuff being sold on ebay, mostly with a good until date of 12/2011, to what i got, lot # 9910, exp 3/2013.

that was the first time i used that site and was skeptical but they seemed really good. i also ordered another bottle of revita and the new revita.cor from them and got all of it in about 3 or 4 days.

Thx for the reply.

I have a feeling I have an old lot: 052010 exp. 11/12.

What do you think?

the 052010 is the one i got.

It doesnt irratate my scalp like previous ones did. But is it inferior to the new batch i dont know.

as far as trying to get the new batch. Follica didnt have it, and DAB (using Amazon) has been sold out and DS is back ordered on the stuff.

So you know for a fact that 052010 is the old batch, what is the new batch?
What number?
