Spectral DNC-L users: Did I just receive a fake batch?

So, I believe I recently bought a fake/poor quality bottle of Spectral DNC-L. For any of you who use Spectral DNC-L (you can also see it on DS Laboratories website), you know that it is a thick, orange cream that makes your hair somewhat stiff and sticky.

Well, the latest bottle that I bought from Amazon's Healty and Beauty Online Store has a white, faintly-green cream that smells really funky. It looks, smells, and feels nothing like the Spectral DNC-L I've been using for more than a year. I feel like the seller filled a bottle with Dove Moisturizing Cream thinking they could pull one over on some hapless customer and save some money.

So I'm just wondering if this is the "new and improved" Spectral DNC-L that is now being used or just a fake? If it's a fake I'll definitely need to pursue it immediately, so if anyone knows please respond as soon as possible. Thanks.

Was the box sealed ?

I would buy from a respected seller that has the newest batch and compare.

I'm using just the DNC and the newest batch is back to the old better formula.

it may be a new batch? My last bottle of dnc-l that i have right now, on the bottom of the bottle, it has a lot # that starts with a 1004 (can't read the rest) and has an exp date of 02/13. The color of mine is a beige tan skin color. are u able to read the lot number or exp date on bottom of your bottle?

What color is the old better formula?

Yes the box was sealed. The lot # is 102510 and the exp date is 04/13. However the lot # on the bottom of the box is 102610. That's not normal, right?

I guess I could perhaps classify the color as "beige". Not really, though. It's almost pure-white, with a tinge of faint yellow/green. The consistency is similar to the original orange cream, but the smell is different. The DS Laboratories doesn't mention anything about a change either.

yep, i had just re-ordered at folica dot com and I got the white formula now. So far so good I am not complaining at the color at all, much prefer this to the orange and yellow color, also like that they got rid of the fragrance smell. I hope i continue with good results.

One important thing that I learned about using (or buying to be precise) DS Laboratories products is that never ever stock up. Buy one bottle at a time as DS Labs changes the formulas so frequently. I ain't complaining cos' not too many companies these days are this proactive & studious on perfecting their already stellar formulas. Besides, each bottle typically lasts me 3~4 months easily as I only apply to the thinned out region plus their recommended dosage is way too much...

yeah i also looked over the new formula, and on the box it says minoxidil 4.5%, and it is using beta-sisterol instead of saw pawmetto, and they got rid of the flax seed extract, maybe thats how its now a white formula. As far as the smell, it now similar to the smell of olive oil hair cream that I had used in the past.

Definitely good to hear, takes a load off my mind. I guessed it was probably the real stuff after I noticed the weak vellus hairs on my temples thickening up again after not using DNC-L for about a month and a half.

It's also a definite improvement over the nasty orange formula, which made it appear as though I had some cheesy mold or fungus growing in my hairline.

Follow up question though: Does anyone here actually believe the Spectral DNC-L is any better than just the regular Spectral DNC? Is it really worth the extra price?
