spironolactone 5%, 2%

do you think it might be possible to spray spironolactone 5% on by using a empty spray can, also does Dr lee's spironolactone 2% smell, i hear it only smells when applied with minoxidil. 2% is liquid but easier to apply, but does it smell, spironolactone 5% really doesn't which is why i bought it.

I prefer the 2%.

1) I got as good as the best propecia results using it as a single agent after only 3 months. Apply liberally 1X/day

2) Didn't see the same results, actually felt i lost hair, when i switched to the 5%.

3) Its easier to apply because you don't have to wait for your hair to dry

4) Its not greasy like the 5%

No, the 2% doesnt smell bad since Dr. Lee removed the aweful "brut" smelling fragrance. Ive had no problem with smell as long as I apply the minoxidil first.

I also apply Crew Copper Peptides, which has a fruity fragrance and covers any lingering smell.

so what is the consensus 2% is better the liquid is definitely easier to apply and spreds more easily. maybe i shoud buy it. jesus freak how long you been using 2% spironolactone.

I agree with the above. Now that Dr Lee got the stank out of the 2%, I think it is by far the easiest form of spironolactone to use.

The 5% cream is much better suited to areas where you have no hair, or little hair, such as on a bald spot or bald temples.

Whatever works is what I say. I am going to get some 2% for my AM application and just use the 5% for eves. I gotta say though that if you just use a little cream in just the right spots it isnt a problem. I say that because I also use proscar unlike gourmetstylewellness.com, and only need to apply it in trouble spots. gourmetstylewellness.com and others who use it exclusively as an antiandrogen need to use a lot more and that can be a messy time consuming process....

When all else fails try both, and chose the one that works best for you. The 2% is only $20 + $4 shipping. I really think the 2% is more effective.

The bottom line for me, besides the price and increased effectiveness, is the easy application of the 2% increases my compliance to use it every day. With the 5% you have to wait until your hair is completely dry, and you can only apply it at night if you don't want greasy hair.

I don't know guys.....I just started the 2% and it has a bit of a lingering stank to it. Funny thing happened the other night. I came to bed and my girlfriend asked me to get up and close the window because she said it smelled like someone hit a skunk...That was no skunk it was my head from the spironolactone :cry:

Youre kidding, right? That's some funny crap if you are serious. I would have f'ing fell out of the bed laughing on that one.

spironolactone can start to smell if you get hot or you don't wash it out at night, but since Dr. Lee took out the pine wood fragrance I can't really say that I ever smell it. However, you don't want to splash a bunch on before you get intimate with your girl though.

The best way Ive found to use the 2% spironolactone with the crew revitalizing spray, which smells a lot like drakkar cologne.

Exactly, Jesus Freak... I agree. The smell of Dr Lees new spironolactone is clean and similar to that of a subtle rubbing alcohol. Easily hidden by a small spritz of cologne. The skunk is dead without that pinewood sh*t.

Then again, on hot days when I am planning on getting out and exercising I skip my am dosage, or just put a little 5% cream on the hairline and balding temples area, and skip the 2%. The heat is the killer, brings out the worst in the chemical.

I think I may look at Jesus Freaks program and go with the 2% in the am, drop Tricomin for Crew, and just use the 5% in the real trouble spots in the pm.

I was using the 2% back in the day when it was reeeely stanky, my poor wife lol......

The 5% is light years better smelling than those early 2% solutions. I havent used it since about '97, I wonder if it smells better now, worth a re-try especially if that Crew hides any residual odor.

I just aplied some about 10 minutes ago and I can still smell it. The weird thing is I can smell it even after I wash and condition my hair. Maybe I'm using too much. I try to get it on my entire scalp and since I'm a diffuse thinner a lot gets on my hair. I'll try to cut back a little.

I don't have any problem with smell...maybe its because I use the crew, which, among many other things, seems to absorb any lingering smell. I've asked a few people to smell my hair, and theyve said it smells like shampoo, which is really the crew that smells like drakkar cologne.[/quote]

2% spironolactone is supposed to go on before minoxidil according to Dr. Lee.

To quote his web page
"Spironolactone Solutions: Solutions of spironolactone are compounded to a concentration of 2%. It is supplied in a bottle with a dabber applicator. The exact amount used is not critical. Use a generous amount, i.e. 1 to 2 mL with each application. Moisten the area(s) of thinning by stroking these area(s) with the dabber applicator prior to the application of the minoxidil solution. It is best to allow the spironolactone solution to partially dry before applying the minoxidil, but it is not essential."

I don't think he's not saying that it's necessary the spironolactone is applied before the minoxidil, but that the two disagree when mixed. His advice is to wait until the minoxidil is fully dried. What he doesn't say, and is probably not aware of, is that if you apply the minoxidil first you don't have to wait until it is fully dry before adding the spironolactone.

Those who actually use both spironolactone and minoxidil, which includes me, have complained of the smell when applying the spironolactone first.

Use the spironolactone after the minoxidil, and the minoxidil that collects on your spironolactone dabber will spoil it.
