Hi

Can anyone reccomend a place to buy reasonably priced spironolactone cream? I have heard it can be good for the temples and the hairline! Thats exactly what I need. To maintain my temples... And if possible... Fill them in "A little".

I live within Europe and would like some idea of where to order.

Thanks

Well, dr. Lee's has a spironolactone lotion which he claims avoids the bad smell of traditional spironolactone... It is not cheap, but to avoid a smelly head it may be worth a little extra. Id be interested in hearing feedback from anybody who has used it (is it really better). He also has the spironolactone %5 solution, apparently quick drying, for topical application. I was interested in that product also, but wonder if the odor would be a bigger issue.

Everyone talks about the odour??? How bad is it? Does it smell of pig sick or something?

Apparently it makes your head smell of super-strong grade-a Skunk (weed - that is)

I use Dr. Lees 2% and the 5%. The 2% smells a little but its really not that bad, especially if you keep the bottle refrigerated.

The 5% is a virtually odourless cream, I just use it on the temples and you only need a little so one tub lasts quite a long time.

.

I think I will add it... I am worried that the increased free testosterone induced by dutasteride may work against dutasteride's DHT supression. The price of bottles of spironolactone are essentially the same as the price mark-up from dr. Lee's minoxidil to his xanadrox (for the addition of the less proven azelaic acid). I havent heard great feedback regarding Fluradil (not enough to justify another expensive medication anyway), which seems the only alternative.

If the skunk weed smell is too apparent, and the product makes my hair look bad, I will just put on my doo-rag after application. That should keep the people from asking questions.

Dr. Lee's 5% spironolactone cream is definitely fine on smell, even after exercise or in the heat, and is cosmetically acceptable. I recommend it if finasteride isn't working out for you for whatever reason.

I used both types of spironolactone, the 2% in the morning and the 5 at nite for a round 6mnths and i have to admit they done abosultely nothing. Also rubbing all that stuff on ur head is a big hassel, its trouble enuff with the minoxidil.

Still up to you, but bear in mind its, bar a few vauge experiments, pretty much unproven

did the 2% have a noticable odor? like "skunk weed"? and after exercise, or was it no problem?

Azelaic acid and spironolactone have some clinical effect on acne and/or hirsuitism, both androgen related conditions... While I wouldnt count on it to supress all DHT on its own, I am just looking for marginal benefit which just may push my regimine from ineffective to effective... There are no studies to show if this is possible, because there are no studies of combined treatments. But, the idea makes sense. Either would probably be a lot cheaper than RU or Fluradil (which dont have well documented/ quantified benefits either).
