About 11 months ago.. I hopped on this forum, read about alternatives to finasteride.. and came across spironolactone.

Then I ordered 100x 100mg from Inhousepharmacy.

Then I crushed those tablets into powder and mixed it with my shampoo.

I've been using my own made spironolactone Shampoo for 10 months now. The shampoo I used was very scalp friendly. Stuff here from Australia, made of milk proteins etc.

I'm 22 btw, with very very rapid diffuse thinning and receded temples.

Well.. when I first started, those who know about treatments called me crazy. But I waited.. and used it.. and waited.. and used it.. and waited.. Whats the result? I got about 40% density back.

It saved me. And it's so easy, I just apply it to my head, leave it on for 5 minutes, wash off.. did that every day.

But I also use minoxidil for the temples. Just the temples. Nowhere else. It grew back my temples, so the minoxidil for the temples, the spironolactone for the crown and rest of head.

I couldn't be fucked hopping back on here to tell people.. To be honest, helping you means sh*t all to me.. but I did get the idea from here, so heres my return thanks. It works. Adios.

G'day, what's the benefit of applying spironolactone by combining with shampoo?
Why not just apply the topical spironolactone directly?

He's a diffuse thinner. Therefore, applying spironolactone topically as a cream would be quite inconvenient. So in his case, the shampoo would work better (although its probably not as effective as applying it as a cream). However, I do have to admit, this is the first time I've heard of anyone using their own form of homemade spironolactone, as a shampoo. It's a bit interesting...

the question is....is 5mins a day sufficient for any real results? I mean people are applying spironolactone cream 2x a day and leaving it on for hours and I haven tread any miraculous recovery stories.

OP, congrats.

this does sound like it could potentially be a winner though. id like to know
what ccs, bryan etc think of it especially regarding the amounts. surely crushing 100 tablets into one bottle would be way too much but...

i doubt leaving this stuff on 1x a day for 5 mins is goin to be very beneficial to MOST people.

Is making a spironolactone shampoo even possible? If so, how?

This sounds pretty good on paper. Cheap and convenient. I've got a few questions before I give it a go:

1- Would the spironolactone penetrate the scalp with shampoo or would I want some sort of carrier?

2-Are there systemic effects with topical spironolactone?

Actually, I had sides from topical spironolactone and fluridil....

I asked because I know that spironolactone is absorbed systemically to some degree. Some posters on here had blood tests confirming this. It's just unclear what proportion of people have sides.
