I could be wrong and I apologize up front if I am but I think the original poster is scamming everyone. This is not the first time someone has brought up the idea of spironolactone shampoo on this forum. Note that he indicates he was first laughed at by those knowledgeable in hairloss treatments at the notion of spironolactone shampoo and now take a look at the below link.

I think the posters are the same person (note both from Australia, both using minoxidil on temples, hmmmmm) and he's trying to make his idea of spironolactone shampoo seem possible. Not to mention "Dr Grow" wasn't exactly on good terms with folks here. Again, I could be wrong, but it's something to think about.

I do believe that shampoo with spironolactone is better then shampoo without...damn, a foam spironolactone version would be really nice! :roll:

spironolactone/Keto shampoos are prescribed by some knowledgeable doctors for hairloss, and apparantly work well from the anecdotal reports I've read in google searches. Don't try it if you don't want to. I'm gonna buy 5g and put it in my Nizoral.

where do you get the 5g? do you mean crushed pills or pure spironolactone?

and I think you should only put 2g in your nizoral. Not sure how much it can hold, but 2g is 1%, and you already got the 1% keto in there. you don't want the keto falling out of solution through competition with the spironolactone.

I've got 2 bottles of nizoral laying around, so I'll put 2.5g in each one. I'm just gonna crush some pills from inhouse pharmacy.

Why do you say that. What is wrong with trying spironolactone. in his shampoo?

It might not be as good as a cream left on the scalp but what's wrong with him trying it in a shampoo? There's usually enough ingredients in shampoos to dissolve some fatty soluble stuff IMHO.

your hair will get just as clean either way. but you don't have to go around with spironolactone in your hair. you can even apply the cream as well, but have the shampoo as a weaker back up. It ups the cost of your 8 oz shampoo by $5 to have 1% spironolactone shampoo that lasts 3 months. Why not?

I ground up 20 100mg spironolactone pills from united, threw them in a clear, empty baby shampoo bottle so I could see them, added about 4mL of propylene glycol I got from chemistrystore, shook it up till I got a suspention, then added in my nizoral (which I suspect is at spironolactone's ideal pH of 4.5) to 2/3 full, rotated it upsided down a few times to get it mixed, then poored it back into the nizoral bottle. Full extraction of the spironolactone from the powder probably takes a few days. The shampoo was less viscus, but I just cup my hand and it works. Still feels and smells great, though has a slight citrus smell from the pills.

I bet most spironolactone uses rutinely miss doses. I get mine regulary, just not as strong. I'd like to add spironolactone to some other shampoos, but it might react with NANO, and it is not as stable in pH 6 shampoos, so it might break down after several weaks, like 50% in five weeks. I'd like to apply it daily, but it is in Nizoral. At least I'm getting it EOD. I put apple poly in my NANO, which I'm using the other EOD.

I also have minoxidil in my NANO.

I'm currently shampooing with Nizoral and then adding approx 2ml of 5% liquid spironolactone (CEM), waiting five mins, and washing off.
The 5% spironolactone liquid was so smelly i'd stopped using it as a topical, i'm glad i've now found a way to use it without my head stinking.
