Starting dosage regimen and effects between 1mg and 1.25

Hey, guys,
Is there any effective regimen how to start taking finasteride?
Take it slow, smaller dosages, every other day or just go 1mg from the day 1?

Also, I read that there is no difference in effectiveness of the drug between the 1mg and 1.25mg dosages. What about the side effects? Are the chances for those increase with extra 0.25mg?

I've been taking 1.25 for months. It's probably going to be equally as effective (or ineffective) as 1 mg. No difference in side effects compared to 0.5 mg.

The response of finasteride is nearly independent of dose. You can increase the dose by a factor of 5 and get a very marginal change in response. In Japan, the standard dose is 0.2 mg.
