Starting Minoxidil and I have some questions

I'm getting ready to start using Minoxidil. My dermatologist gave me a free 1 month sample of Rogaine. Here are my questions:

1. Where's the cheapest place to get it

2. Is there any difference between Rogaine and Walgreens or Costco brands?

3. I'm planning on just applying it to my scalp and using my fingers to spread it around. I have generally decent hair, I'm just starting to go thin on top and towards the front. Comments??

4. Do I have to wash my hair every day? Currently I only wash about twice per week, but I do condition every day.

4. How long should I wait before applying any hair cream.

5. Can I expect to get dandruff??

I don't know about walgreens or costco brands but the active ingredient is minoxidil, so just check for that on the package. to apply it part your hair and rub directly into your scalp, once it dries i believe you can gel or style your hair, and you may dry up your scalp so pick up some nizoral shampoo it's done a great job for me and alot of people.

i have a question:

when i use minoxidil for my temples, do i have to put it only on the bald spots or can i use it for the whole front area, where i am loosing hair ?

ricardo you can put minoxidil anywhere you want, be aware that putting it on an area where you still have hair may cause an initial shed. Also make sure to get the minoxidil onto your scalp rather than just rubbed into your hair

It will most likely spread out a bit under the skin too, so you might notice some shedding in areas where you have not directly applied it. This doesn't happen to everyone directly when starting (I'm 2 1/2 months in on finasteride + Min + nizoral and have yet to experience a shed), but it might sooner or later. Or not at all.

I just started 2 weeks ago and was having similar questions. I guess I generally have a lot of hair still where I am appyling it, but its thin. I part my hair where I apply it, but when I rub it into my scalp I inevitably get it inot my hair. How long does the shedding that comes from this occur? I am a worrying and when I get the odd hair come out after I apply it I get paranoid.
