I visit this site almost everyday and never post. I read good stories and bad ones. About 8 months ago I was a real mess knowing that I was balding. I looked on the internet to gather info about the issue. I even looked to get a hair transplant. Then I came to this site and felt comfortable. I felt I would give the big 3 a chance. I got on Proscar 1.25, Monox 2% for 3 months then switched to 5% 1x a day and nizoral 3x a week and 1 centrum vitamin 1x a day. I have been on this for 8 months now and come to the conclusion that it actually works. I have regrown hair. My overall hair look good to me. I never thought that it could happen. Now with finasteride. I have a little less sexual desire with no other side effects. The minoxidil I find it to be to greasy, I don't have a problem applying it but it is just to greasy. Well I visit this board to find the latest on the cure...Hope all well and stick with it.

Great news! Did you go through periodic sheds? How bad? I've been on propecia for a month and I'm going through a massive shed. I keep remembering this is supposed to be good...this is supposed to be good...

I had a big shed about 2 1/2 months. I thought it wouldn't work but I just kept with it and it seems to be working...

Sexual desire.. I guess it isn't all that bad but I did notice that I had lost some desire. For two months I would cut proscar into quarters than take the quarters and shave some off with knife to lower dosage to about 1 mg and it seem to get my desire back. But now I just quarter them. At first I had my nuts hurt but it went away. Other than that it is all gooooood...

that massive shed is probably a result of the minoxidil. The propecia shed usually doesnt happen til later.

I've been on propecia for about 6 weeks now, had a massive shed almost exactly at the one month mark, really suddenly too. They say sheds are usually only visible to the shed-ee, but I have really short hair and it was pretty visible. Luckily it seems to have stopped now, I just hope the shed hair comes back. I started on minoxidil a couple of weeks back to give it a hand, just hope I don't have a second shed cause of the minoxidil, not even sure if that's possible.
As for side effects, sensitive breast area for a couple of weeks, went away though after a couple of weeks - no sexual side effects so far, fingers crossed.
