Hi guys, I've got fairly long hair and blow dry it to style it so Min wouldn't be a possible product for me. Are there any other stimulants that spring to mind that could work for me? :)

Using NANO shampoo would probably be a good option for you. Leave it on for a good 5 minutes or so before rinsing it off.

Cheers Bryan. Is that like Nizoral shampoo? When can you expect the bulk of shedding on it? In your opinion is it as good as Min.? Do you know of any good suppliers?

I wouldn't recommend Nano, purely down to the cost effectiveness. I went through 4 bottles, and tbh i lost ground. this is when i wasn't using minoxidil. maybe it's good with minoxidil aswell, but i guess you can't use minoxidil. Still you could try nano, everyones different. just sayin' my experience with it.

I have long hair, like down to mid back. Rogaine foam is fine. Dries in like 10 mins and then you just do a quick comb through. I even do liquid minoxidil at night (and days I don't work currently). Liquid is fine if you have an hour to wait for it to dry then you towel dry it some more, apply a slight hairspray then comb through. Same effect as the foam, just stinks a bit if you don't wash your hair every day. Rogain foam actually smells great however.

I'm going to buy a small bottle of Min and give it ago. Also will it matter if I go a day without applying it? Would it be ok just to apply it once in the morning or is twice daily a must?

Even though it's recommended to put it on twice a day, some just put it on once a day. Infact, you could put on like 2 ml or so once a day rather than twice perhaps. your call. Also I would really suggest you use a shampoo with ketoconazole in it. Let it soak into your scalp for like 5 minutes when your in the shower. I shampoo everyday with a keto shampoo, but apparently it's too harsh to do everyday for some. Try it and see how ya fare!

No, I don't think there's any similarity between NANO and Nizoral shampoos; they work by completely different methods. NANO is a chemical which has rather similar biological effects as minoxidil, but apparently doesn't have the nasty side effects.

I have no earthly idea. I'm not a good person to ask about "shedding", since I've never been sure what that actually means! :)

I'm not sure. Even Dr. Proctor (the maker of products that contain NANO for treating hair loss) has expressed uncertainty when asked that same question. When I asked him about it once way back on alt.baldspot, he told me that he goes "back and forth" on that issue. In my heart of hearts, I suspect that it probably doesn't really have all the efficacy that minoxidil has at growing hair, but one has to admit that it's a far SAFER drug than minoxidil.

Furthermore, I've seen it speculated that the NANO molecule may have similar effects as TEMPO/TEMPOL and PBN ("turbocharged" SODs). If that's actually correct, that would probably be a very important extra consideration, maybe even more important than its ability to stimulate a certain amount of hair growth.

Only Dr. Proctor makes NANO shampoo, although he also makes a cheaper version available on LEF (Life Extension Foundation). A lot of people buy it there.

Don't forget to tell him the cheaper version is a watered down version.

There is no evidence out there that shows this "NANO" does what it's claimed to do(It's no wonder Dr. P is "uncertain" if it works as good as minoxidil). Just as the "speculated that the NANO molecule may have similar effects as TEMPO/TEMPOL and PBN " ..is just that- speculation. But a great sales pitch.
