Ok I know this has been brought up before, but anyways people for gods sake don't be a sucker and get your doctor to prescribe you Propecia.

Here in Canada you will pay $70 for 1 months supply of propecia, where if you were to do a little research and figure out that if you were to ask for the exact same drug in the 5mg form( Generic not Proscar) and explain to your doctor that you intend to cut up each pill either into 4 or 5 pieces( the .25 extra really doesn't bother me, and it's just too damn hard to cut into 5 pieces) and it is exactly the same drug just branded under a different name, your doctor most likely will give you a prescription for it, and you will save most likely save around $748.34 cents per year.( Based on paying $38.19 at Wal-mart for 30 pills of 5mg finasteride) This is based on splitting the 5 mg pill up into 5 pieces. This is based on Canadian Prices, in the states you'll likely save even more.

And you'll probably save even more again because most drug plans will cover some portion of the 5mg pill form but they will not cover propecia, as it's deemed unnecessary to retain your hair.

PLEASE LET THE INSANITY STOP!!!!

Sing it sista!

Actually, I found Costco to be even cheaper. I pay $25 per 30 pills, so around $80 gives me 100 5MG pills. Split into quarters, that's a years worth of hair goodness for less than $100.

In Canada, Costco dispenses PMS-Finasteride, which is produced by Pharmascience. 5MG finasteride can be covered by company health plans, but I wouldn't exactly recommend that since there is a chance you could be sued for insurance fraud (since you aren't using it for BPH). Also, i'm not sure if this is true, but if your insurance company sees that you are taking pills for an enlarged prostate, that may go on your medical record and screw you over for insurance in the future. I'm not sure how that works though..

Who's to say I don't have an enlarged prostate, they'd have to request medical background from myself, and it may have developed after I set up my drug plan to begin with right.

Besides I doubt they can sue me, they could maybe sue my doctor for prescribing 5mg finasteride for hair loss, but how can they prove anything on either side.

Bottom line is there is a max limit on most plans that they will pay out for prescription drugs regardless of what they are, too much work would be needed to file a law suit. Especially with the amount of men on drug plans doing this already.

Yeah I've heard Costco is the cheapest however you have to purchase a membership to shop there, and it would probably work out to be the same as buying at walmart when you take that into account.

Either way I'm so happy that I can now afford to pay for finasteride again, via the method i'm using currently no more wasting so much money for the exact same drug in 1 mg form.

a months supply of propecia costs about 70usd where I live. I asked my doctor if he can prescribe me a generic, he said there isn't any. What a douche :shakehead:
Ill try ask him about the 5mg finasteride again.
