Stopping Propecia Question

I have taken Propecia for 5 days now, and am thinking about quiting because of all the scary side effects I am hearing some claim. I am skeptical, but I do not want to take that risk. Anyhow, I was wondering if my DHT levels are going to significantly spike since I have taken Propecia and cause an overall acceleration in my hariloss. Anyone know of any studies or info that may suggest this?

Dude, if you aren't experiencing side effects, keep at it. It will be worth it in the end.

If you stop your DHT levels will return to normal in a week or so.

To be honest, don't even think about the side effects if you don't have them. They occur in a very small subset of those taking the drug and they are usually not severe and go away within a few weeks of getting them.

I had pretty awful sides (testicular pain, decreased libido), so I backed off of my dose for a few days and now I'm taking a 1/4 pill every day without any problems (honestly, i think my sex drive has increased from baseline). I think I, too, got scared when reading about side effects. Don't freak out. finasteride is a good drug for hair loss and it is fairly well tolerated in a VAST majority of users.

Damn dude sorry to put it this way and believe me, all I want is to help you, but you need to toughen up a bit. If you want to keep your hair you have no choice but to go through the experience before totally disregarding it for side effects that you haven't even felt.

And even if you get some sides, they will most probably go away once your body adjusts (I experienced myself a few of them). Just give it some time and relax.

I am going to start up, as my first Doctor proscribed it rather liberaly, and on a second opinion from another Doctor told me CNS issues with reduced DHT are not likely to be a big deal at all and that drinking a beer is more likely to cause greater damage. So I am going to see how it goes.

I am thinking about getting Nizoral 1% (though I have no dandruff at all) and only taking 0.5mg of propecia to cut costs in half. I am a bit worried the effectiveness will be reduced in cutting it, so I am still debating it.
