Okay here it goes, my entire life ive had relatively thin hair on my frontal hairline.
My moms entire family has a full head of hair, dads is all bald.

My hairloss was extremely aggravated after i took a prohormone (precursor to steroids/ legal) for about 4 weeks. All i got was sides, no results.

Lost a lot of hair, especially on top.
Started minoxidil once 1-2x a day for about 4 months. Got it all back.

6-8 months later, take another prohormone (yes, stupid).
Except this time its even worse.
Its been almost 2 years and i have not grown it back and keeps getting worse. (receding / slight crown thinning)
Tried 0.25mg finasteride/day for 1 week and got ball ache and brain fog, stopped.
Been wearing concealer for about a year or so only used minoxidil sporadically. (yes, also stupid)

Started minoxidil 3 weeks ago 2x/day. I don't take anything hormonal and don't plan to.

My question is whether or not i have traditional male pattern baldness or some other sort of alopecia?
Also wondering why the minoxodil worked so well the first time around?
Sorry for the wall of text.

minoxidil is a hair regrowth treatment, not a hairloss prevention treatment. It only works over the short term (2 years or less). I recommend trying finasteride again, ball ache and brain fog were more likely imagined than not, and even if they were real they sound minor and will probably go away over time. The only way to stop your loss is by taking an oral AA like finasteride or MAYBE RU, but I strongly recommend you try finasteride again and only use RU as a last resort.

Taking steroids is absolutely retarded when you have a history of hairloss in your family if you care about your hair at all
