Success with Rogaine for Frontal Hair Loss?

I know, I know - Rogaine tells you explicitly in its instructions that it's not for frontal hair loss. I read that this is because proper trials haven't been performed to test it. (Is this true?)

My hair loss is along the front hairline, with thinning in the middle. It's not horribly noticeable at the moment, but suddenly got worse in the last two months after about 4 years of seeming stagnation after some initial loss. I don't know if stress made it worse or if it was just part of the cycle.

So, has anyone actually had success using Rogaine for frontal hair loss? I really want to hear other people's experiences.

I picked up Rogaine foam and have used it for a day. I feel like I'm a little light-headed and my heartbeat's off, which I've read does happen to some people, but I'm also prone to anxiety attacks and have felt this way other times when I was nearing a panic attack over some fears I had about my heart. I even had a stress test and an ECG over the last few months that showed I was fine. Granted, I had a bad panic attack the night before the ECG because I was worried it might show something bad. As I worried about different signs of heart trouble, I magically began to feel them. That's the power of the mind. Reading the Rogaine instructions recently hasn't given me peace of mind.

So, I'm already using Rogaine for a reason it tells you not to. And I've read about the shedding, which I don't look forward to. In fact, my hair doesn't look that bad now, so I'm not sure how I'll handle mass shedding. I'm wondering if I should be putting myself through all this if it's not even going to help me. I know what the label says, but has anyone here actually had some success treating frontal hair loss with Rogaine?

In the end, I'd rather have a little less hair and be healthier than more hair and heart troubles.

It's working very well at the front for me, however, I'm also taking finasteride which probably makes a big difference, although I will say before starting finasteride, I was still having moderate success in the temple area on just minoxidil.
