Brick, what is your hair style at the moment? I'm sure I read previously you are of the short sides and hair on the top crew - for receders. I'm in that boat.

haha I don't follow trends to follow trends. I just really like this look.

Anyway
HIYA - My hairstyle is exactly how you described. I wear it longer on top and slightly shorter on the sides with concealer.
I got a haircut recently and cut it way too short. I looked awful for about 2 weeks until it started to grow. It's just starting to get back to a point where I look okay. It's amazing how bad/older I look when I cut it too short. The key is hiding those temples

Also, this is how I look best. Sometimes I get the idea that i can wear my hair really short or some other style and I just end up looking bad. I got a haircut recently and looked awful. I look so old if it's too short.

Here is a similar style to what I wear:

Yeah, I don't follow trends much but this is an awesome look. It is totally retro too. Check out this pic of my maternal grandfather rocking the side part slicked back look at his and my grand mom's wedding. He was about thirty there I guess. The next pic was a few years later. The third pic is him (on the left) in his 70s. He still had the same hairstyle but he had a bit of recession by then (Norwood 2--about where I am at 22). The fourth pic is his father (my great-grandfather) rocking the slicked back look as an old man.

It was one of your posts talking about hairstyles for receders that helped me to grow my hair back :)

My hair is growing back from a shaved head but I think in a month or so it'll be the style that I am extremly happy with, but even now I do the same - shave the side with a 1/2 and keep the top growing.
The key I feel is having the sides shorter than the hair on top.

I've noticed quite a few young hip young men with the styles that you've posted.
I'm just happy that I can still do something with my hair and it looks ok :)

On a side note, it really is amazing how nobody cares about hairloss - ok some do, but out with my close circle of friends and myself - people I seen 4-5 months ago when I was slick bald were ''Oh, how did your hair fall out. What happened?'' and now it's ''Your hair is back''.

Hiya - That is awesome to hear man! I'm glad I could help out!

I know all too well what it is like to be depressed about your hair and just not look good at all. If it isn't styled the particular way, it can make you look awful.

The guy above is actually who inspired me to let my hair grow on top a bit (sounds weird, but it's true).

I was watching him on a show and thought that I would love to try that style out, so i let the hair on top grow while keep the sides and back a little shorter. Then WAHLAH! I slowly started loving what I saw in the mirror.
for a long time I would just cut my hair super short trying to make it look good and it did not work.
Sure, it takes concealer and upkeep to maintain what I have going but it is more than worth it to me. Keep at it man and do what looks best on you!

Good to hear, Brick that you had a eurika moment as well with regards seeing someone else with hair.
What did you do before hand? Did you get it short or shaved? Do you cut your hair yourself?

My problem was that I hadn't really kept it that short before (I had but I'd always let it grow in) I'd take about 2 haircuts a year, but the haircut wouldn't be short similar to Ryan Kwanten that you posted.
I also was used to having bobbed type hair, not long but longish for a man and it looked terrible especially with the wind as it would show up the NW3.

I too use a dab of concealer as well. I've been cutting the side hair myself and although I'm not perfect I'm getting there.

I know, it's because I lost my hair (I tell that to people who say I look older loool) and the wrinkles caused by minoxidil! lol just kidding (I have 0 wrinkles except under my eyes, but I got that from my father, the hair and the dark circles :p).

No surprise I'm dating a girl who is 25 years old, I don't understand, maybe my facial features and my hair when I'm exposed in broad daylight? What makes me look "old"? lol

Here's a proof I'm really 21! just in case! I know, I'm nuts :p, I was 18 on the picture, my hair loss was undetectable at that time :). So... has my hairline moved?? lol

LOL@Belgian ID card photo. You have aged alot in those 3 years my friend. Atleast you're going out with older lady so you won't look like a paedo LOL. Your hairline has receeded a little in that period but you can always tackle dark underyes with good moisturiser, hydration and sleep. :dunno:

It's weird man. I am 26 now.

I went through an aging crisis when I was 22-23. I was always getting mistaken for being older. I hated it, so I took action.
I started drinking a lot more water, doing facial exercises and just keeping better care of myself altogether. Today I look younger than I did than. It's weird, but stuff actually works! It took a lot of the age off my face

Fred, I really can't believe how you have found a girlfriend if you act like this in real life :D

If you are telling every girl that you're balding, then you are bursting with insecurity all over the place. Why the hell the girl needs to know about your insecurities? This repulses her. And if you are telling her that you are balding on the first minutes of meeting, that is just insane! Don't you ever think that she is impressed by it. She's disgusted. She can pretend that it doesn't bother her, she can smile. But inside her she is like "WTF". This may be the reason why you had 5 "girlfriends" in a 3 months :D. No one of them wanted to stay longer with a guy who is openly bothered with his hair loss.

haha wat a total crock of sh*t, i can only assume ur young (like 16-18 or something). And yes when ur that age girls DO care, they probably want someone who has long hair, nice skin, and that they can use to make there friends jealous, + money and a car.

But as u get into ur twenties and thirties youll realise 90% of them dont give a sh*t about ur hair. they probably want a strong confident guy that can look after them physically, emotionally and financially, with a good outlook on life.

Ever seen a battleship or something dock at a port? Almost all of those men, ugly, fat, bald watever have a pretty girl often whos pregnant or has children, waiting for them. They just want to be looked after.

believe me, guys worry more about hairloss than MOST girls, at least beyond puberty.

Dont spread ur negativity here dude. grow up already!

What I was trying to say is that the balding is not such a problem itself, but a girl should not see that it is bothering you.

I think you are bothered by you hairloss too, because what would you be doing on these forums?

Admitting you're losing hair to a girl isn't showing insecurities to her. If you try to hide it from a girl that shows a great deal more insecurity in my opinion.

I would even venture to say it's worth it to let a girl know early because if she doesn't stick around she is obviously not worth your time in the first place. No girls I have told about my thinning seemed to care.

ever met someone that is happy to be losing a part of themselves?

Losing part of yourself? Could you say that with a straight face? We're talking about something purely cosmetic here.. let's try and keep some perspective. Else when you do actually lose something.. you're going to be in very bad shape.
