Switching From Proscar To Generic Finasteride Is Proven To Be Ineffective?

I decided to switch from Proscar to generic finasteride, due to the hefty price. As you're all aware; generic finasteride is predominantly sold for half the price in compared to Proscar, which is kind of off-setting when you think about it. Why is there even such an incremental price gap between the two? I've stumbled upon a sketchy post from another site stating that generics are proven to be ineffective. I'd appreciate if someone were to debunk the myth for me, as it has been weighing on my mind lately.

P.S: the name of the brand I switched to is Aurobindo.

I can't debunk anything but I'll go on record saying that I started taking generic Aurobindo 5mg at the beginning of March, and switched to Merck Propecia a month later. I've seen nothing from either. No side effects, no intended effect, nothing.
Propecia runs a little over $100 a month, I spent $4 on a four month supply of Aurobindo. From what I understand Proscar is $150 for 30 5mg tablets, which would last four months and work out to under $40a month, if it works that's well worth it to me.

Why would generics be ineffective? Even topical finasteride goes systemic, so as long as the generic tablet actually has finasteride it should make no difference.
