Switching to liquid!

Hey guys!

After yesterdays haircut, it has become painfully obvious that my hairline has only gotten exponentially worse since I began using Rogaine Foam. So, since I am almost out of Foam anyway, I'm going to switch to liquid today and see if that makes any noticeable difference. I'll take pictures and let you guys know the results.

How long you been using foam on the hairline?

Ive been using on my hairline for around 1.5 years now.

Its done wonders for my left temple but right temple is being eaten.

What can ya do? :dunno:

I've been on it for about 8 months now, 6.5 months on finasteride. I could just be going through the dreaded 5-6 month shed, but eh... the foam has done nothing for my hairline. If anything, it et it clean up.

Timi,

My experiences with Foam have been mixed. Along the very front of the hairline, I have seen a good deal of improvement - when I first started Foam, there was shiny scalp. Then there were vellus hairs. Then there were lots of vellus hairs. Now there are a few terminal hairs while the other vellus hairs are thickening up - which I am ecstatic about - but it's still not really thick enough to not be considered a very very very thin part of my hair. The problem is, the area just behind the receding areas has worsened to about the same point, so I have two very thin sections going about 1.5 inches back past my hairline. Again, there are vellus hairs there as well - but damnit, I used to have normal hair there!

As far as the crown goes, that has improved with foam.

I'd say foam has made mine worse, but its only after 6 or 7 months have I really began to notice.

Is the dreaded 5-6 month shed similar to the dreaded 2 month, 9 month, or 11 month shed? Seriously, there is no set timeframe for a shed. If you were to believe everything you read on this forum about people shedding from meds, you would come to the conclusion that people are shedding 12 months out of the year. It's normal for people---men,women, those with and without male pattern baldness--- to shed several times a year regardless of any meds they are taking.

i have been doing foam on the hairline 1/day for 4 months - i had a nasty shed 3 weeks in that grew back. i've seen a handful of hairs sprout on the left temple, nothing on right, but it's maintaining so i'm happy and will keep applying it, very easy and quick to do.

My hairline has not improved so far. I will take pictures soon once I find my camera again.

Liquid is also causing some ridiculous peeling of the scalp, like huge huge flakes of dandruff. I didn't get this side effect while using foam, and it makes me uneasy. Should I go back to foam after a month of this? As bad as receding temples are, I think that having large white chunks of dead skin tousled in the hair is a worse look.

Anybody else have this problem?

Looking at previous pictures, my hairline had improved slightly while on rogaine foam.

The hairline is looking even better now that I use Rogaine Liquid. The problem is, my skin is peeling and flaking like crazy wherever I apply it. I don't mean small little dandruff flakes, I mean centimeter diameter huge flecks of dead skin. Not very pretty, and very hard to conceal. I may switch back to foam soon.

Well guys I'm moving away from liquid. I can't tell any noticeable difference, if anything my hairline has gotten much worse. Also the amount of flaking is insane. I look like I have a serious skin problem. Huge scabs of skin just peeling up wherever I touch - it's nightmarish!

I just ordered some more Foam. A very large FU to Rogaine liquid. Might be right for some, but for me it was awful.
