For the last few days I have been thinking that my general density had improved and i was only unhappy about my high hairline and the huge forehead. But now after seeing these pics I don´t know what to do anymore. It hurts so much. No joke, but when I saw these pics I started crying . I guess I had just another mental breakdown. It is so terrible to see how much damage DHT has done to my hair in just 3 months. I am about to give up and just do nothing against my hair loss. I think I am gonna sit in my room, go bald and just kill myself. Thank you for reading and goodbye.

Keep on with the regimen. 3 months are not enough to see full results.
Keep on and don't let yourself go.

Hello guys,

thank you all for your encouraging words. It really has helped me and I will go on with my regimen. I haven´t given up, yet. I still have plenty to lose.

@Jayman, I think the pics of my hairline look worse than it actually is. My hairline starts about 6.5cm (2.5 inches) above my hairline. It receded about 7mm (0.3 inches) until now.

Taugenichts you dont look bald at all. Seriously. I guess baldness is in your mind and not outside your head... Anyway. Start minoxidil and you will never get bald. It has completely stopped my baldness.

So, here we have my update. Nothing new from me. I am still shedding and balding like crazy at an incredible pace. My estimation is that I lost about 70% of all my hairs in the last two years. I used to have very thick hair until the early 20s. Nowadays...... :(

Ok, for better comparsion I am gonna repost the old pictures(click to enlarge!):

July 2006:

Right Temple

November 2006:

January 2007:

Top(Need I say anything more?????)

At the moment I am feeling so shitty...... I have just been to the gym and I don´t think there was one single second I didn´t think about my hair. At this point I am really desperate. I think i am getting ready to start minoxidil soon even though I wanted to give finasteride one year before trying anything else, but I have become too desperate.

My biggest concern at the moment is the left temple. I seem to have lost several hairs (about 10) there during the last weeks. This area is so thin that these hairs already make an optical difference.

Though I still have hope that I am just a late responder. Who knows......

well, keep it up man. you know the gist of minoxidil i won't tell you what to do. i just gave in and decided i wanted to use it with my finasteride, started the foam today. i am quite confident now that i will have regrowth by summer, don't ask me why but i feel good. you should too.

I honestly don't think your hair line shows any signs of loss...sure it's probably higher than average but I think that's just the way it is. You are losing on the crown, though...a bit like me.

Although I believe your hairline is fine, you definatly have thinning in the crown area. There is no reason why you shouldnt start minoxidil unless money is an issue....
I say give the minoxidil a try, then your pretty much doing everything in your power to save your hair.
Good luck

Tauge, you're a tall guy, and a crown like that, if styled appropriately, isn't going to scare anyone away. Trust me! Add a little minoxidil to the regimen as its best efficacy is at the crown, and you may see some results, especially with the finasteride combo. You can do this man.

Keep your spirits up buddy! Your hairline is great, crown a bit thin.

I think you are over-reacting about your hairline. It looks the same.

Grats Taug, you have not lost any hair since you started taking finastride. It is doing exactly what it was meant to do. Since your hair was never that bad, you don't have much room to improve.

p.s. That very last top picture has by far the most strongest bright lights. Your older pictures of the top of your head have very dark lights. What an unfair comparison.

Your synopsis:

You are a Norwood 1.5
Finastride is maintaining your hairline
Your bright as hell lights on your new top pics compared to dark lights of old might give slight illusion of worse hair.
You need to add minoxidil and you will go from Norwood 1.5 to Norwood 1
(You said you were rich, foam is soo easy to apply, why not do minoxidil?)

p.s. There are probably a crapload of people on this forum wishing they had as much hair as you (even ones years younger than you :freaked2: ). Think about that long and hard before you go feel sorry for yourself.

Thanks for your encouraging words, guys! You really think it is not that bad? To me the worst part is my left temple, it looks really thin up there particularly when the hair is wet or styled with some hair gel. The crown picture looks terrible too but one has to keep in mind that it was taken under very bright light with Flash. It looks better under normal lightning, of course and since finasteride is said to work best for the crown I won´t use minoxidil there, yet. I am also gonna talk to my Therapist about my hairloss soon. Apart from my mother and my sister nobody knows how much it bothers me.

But there are also some good news. The itching has stopped almost completely in the last weeks and I even think that I am having less shedding in the last days. Let´s hope it is the beginning of the end ……

oh my god. please don't let your hair bother you, there's hardly anything wrong with it. you have slight, *slight* thinning in your crown/vertex, thats it.

no one notices that ..

if I had your hair, I'd just be on finasteride.

try to chill out a bit :)

Thanks for the kind words flimflam,

I am feeling better today and a little bit more optimistic. I was very desperate yesterday.

i understand a thing or two about mental health, and peoples tendencies towards certain behavior and emotional patterns. many people spiral out up and down up and down with hair loss. mental health actually directly effects physical health (including hormonally!).

so, the best thing you can do is be positive about it. i know, fu*k do i know it's hard. and somedays it's even impossible. but you gotta keep forcing positive outlook. i bet you 99% of the people you know think your hair is fine, heck they have probably never even thought about your hair.

totally agree with him.there is no doubt that you are balding but with your current regime you can maintain your hair .put some minoxidil on your crown, it will surely improve your appearance. To my mind your temples are ok but keep an eye to its progress.Six months are not enough to arrive at judgement day.keep faith in the medicine and keeps formulating your regime for an optimistic result. At last eat healthy and think healthy.

A word(s) of advice Taugenichts.

I spent all of my 20s as a man who had written himself off because of the idea that I was too bald and my remaining hair was going to fall out any moment and no female would want to date me.

My confidence was very low. Had I known that my hair would have kept so well for all those years it would have been a totaly different story...

But we dont know what the future will bring (some people might loose it all in 1 year when they are 40, some might recede a bit in their 20s then stop), but dont write yourself off, you got great hair right now, it might be here tomorrow it might be gone, enjoy it NOW!

I think I should post this here since I don´t want to get on people´s nerves by opening another thread in the impact of hairloss section. MY HAIRLOSS HAS STOPPED. I am pretty sure finasteride has started working by now. The itchching has stopped almost completely. Only when I think about it my head suddenly starts itching again. Weird…….must be only in my head I guess. Apart from that I cleaned my desk on Friday and suddenly noticed: Where are the hairs? I normally find dozens of my fallen comrades on my desk, but not this time. There were like 3 or 4. It wasn´t like that since years. What a great feeling!!!!

I am not sure but I think that I also started seeing regrowth. My hair looks thicker than it used to do a few months ago. When my hair is dry you can´t see any scalp even under bright light. This is a definite improvement. I also noticed many hairs that are smaller than the rest of my hair. Regrowth? Maybe, I am not sure about it yet, but I am optimistic. The 9 month update should be very interesting.

I should be happy by now, but I am not. At the moment I am very depressive. I am feeling so ugly and worthless. It is really “niceâ€￾ that now when my hair has started to improve I am feeling shitty again for other reasons. The irony of my life…..
