the best hair loss centre in the UK?

If I'm going to look at propecia/surgery I will have to visit a centre. I managed to get prescriptions for minoxidil from a local GP/tricologist who is very reluctant to let me take propecia and as a result it has scared my parents (who will be paying for the medication as I'm 21 and essentially I think they'd be prepared to in order to get my life back on track). So it's probably best to visit one of these and look at my options.

I'm thinking either Belgravia or Rodgers. What do others here think?

atm I'm on minoxidil which worked for the first few months and stopped, and dermatch. It's ok except I am pretty much relying on Dermatch...

I intended to put this in the general hair loss discussions but I'm an idiot! Move if you want to...

so it's simply not worth going to any of these clinics in London? I'll need to go somewhere in order to get propecia and maybe a stronger form of minoxidil (some places do more than 5% solution).

The Hairloss centres I have tried have all been in London and all tried the hard sell on me. The first time I went I was a scared and naive 19 year old and the last thing I needed was a quick talking charismatic salesman trying to extract every penny he could from me.
If you go to one, do so armed with knowledge.
You have the internet now so I'm sure you know a lot more than I did back then.
Good Luck.

No its not worth going. Look around here. See what people are taking and where they get there stuff from. Ive never known anyone to use "the big 3" treatments (i.e. Propecia, Minoxidil and Nizoral shampoo) and have no results. Think about it this way: Who would you rather trust to give you simple impartial advice. Thousands of hairloss sufferers worldwide who actually use treatments they recommend or a salesman working for commision?
Kind of a no brainer.

true true. Don't these centres offer lazercomb-like things though?

Very true I want to get on the big 3 (well add the other 2 to minoxidil which isn't working alone).

Where can I get propecia from? I think I'd rather go for propecia than proscar atm just because I trust it a bit more and it's the reccomended dosage (unless people can persuade me otherwise..)

cool. I'm thinking I may try the Advanced Hair Studio because there are loads of them and I wouldn't have to travel far. Plus I think the lazer therapy (along with finasteride and minoxidil) would work pretty well. Look at Shane Warne - his hair looks pretty good!

The adverts are hilarious though. I was always scared to watch the Ashes with people just in case people say my eyes gleam up with the advert showing the hair he grew!

Advanced is one of the worst rip off merchants on the planet. They work as a franchise, and anyone can buy in, with no qualifications whatsoever. They are just jumped up hairdressers. They didn't do anything for Warne that he couldn't do via his own doctor or pharmacist. He is just a figurehead, he should be ashamed of himself for giving any respectability to such a bunch of thieves. Some years ago they just sold expensive wigs, stuck on with superglue that burns the skin. Then you have to go back every month and pay £50 - £80 to have it cleaned.

You can get proscar (finasteride) and nizoral on prescription in the uk, the lasercomb may have some effect, emu oil and all sorts of other treatments might support finasteride. I was completely Norwood shiny bald for twenty years, now I have some hair growing at the front, top, sides and temples, partly thanks to information on this site.

awesome post thanks for letting me know.

The problem is my local dermatologist won't prescribe propecia cos I'm too young and he just doesn't trust it (basically he's a retard). He said he can refer me to other docs though.

But what I was curious about with Advanced was their laser therapy - I can't really afford my own laser comb you see.

What sorta thing do they do and charge?

Hi HMG
My routine has developed from saw palmetto tincture at the beginning (produced some vellus). To propecia, then switched to proscar cut into quarters (which along with ketoconazole (Nizoral) I get on a free UK prescription), minoxidil with retin A cream, emu oil, and a good brush. I use a heat bag to warm the skin for topicals. At night, I wash with nizoral and do twenty minutes lazer, plus another treatment to (in theory) improve microcapilary circulation which I have developed. I can't really say if it is effective, as I might simply be responding well to the "Big Three". But an inventor has to be both mad and dedicated, so I am experimenting way out on my personal limb, though keeping one hand on the main trunk.
I only have a light covering of hair, but it has only been about a year and a half since I started. Signs are that I will have more hair at the front, but I despair for the crown, still it is nice to have something to comb back after looking like a red shiny mirror for twenty years. I'm not sure if I want to post pics until the result is more advanced. Oh yes, I take a range of supplements, which I will have to list separately later. Must dash old chap.

Get Propecia (or Finpecia) online. Get some Minoxidil. Get some Nizoral. Done and Done. Give it 12 months, if you have no results (very very unlikely) then start thinking about unproven treatments like Laser Comb.
Advanced Hair Studio is the fastest and most efficient way to ensure you go both bald and bankrupt simutaniously.

brilliant. That's all I wanted to hear. The cost is ridiculous and if Lazercomb is cheaper I'll do it.

I use minoxidil atm which did work but has stopped and I've been on it a year and a half now. so need to up the ante with propecia. Hopefully soon I won't have to worry about using DerMatch which is what has saved me so far.

Is there anyway I can get a stronger minoxidil solution - more than 5%? I read somewhere that certain places do it (Belgravia I believe?)
