In this thread I thought it would be good if people shared any tips or tricks of the trade that they have discovered during their fight against hair loss. It can be to do with any aspect of hair loss just explain why you feel it has helped you.

For instance I have come across two things which I feel really help me. The first is that I now apply my minoxidil with a spare dermmatch applicator. I have found doing it this way there is far less product lost and also the application is a lot more even. I dip the applicator in the bottle and then squeeze the excess back. Then I part my hair six ways and apply so there is a light layer which I then rub in. I found using a dropper my scalp would always be drenched in the stuff and I was also missing certain parts of the scalp. I use xandrox 15 which is expensive so it has saved me quite a bit of money.

The second is that after I have washed my hair I find a great way to prevent it becoming limp and fine is to soak it or blast it with very cold water for around 10 seconds. It gives a much better fullness and makes my hair feel more alive. I have thin hair and I find hot water really makes it limp and unmanageable.

If you have come across anything which you feel would be helpful to others please post.

number one tip that everyone knows yet few people follow

BE PATIENT

everyday i come on these forums at least once. every day i read new posts from people who KNOW DAMN WELL that treatments take time to work yet are COMPLAINING with their lack of progress after only a month.

or people who stress the obvious and tell everyone else to give treatments enough time to work before seeking alternate treatments or dropping treatments. yet they themselves get so damn impatient they're back here each week asking about new things to add, old things to drop, alternate things to try. NOTHING IS GOING TO FU*KING WORK FOR YOU HOMOS BECAUSE YOU AREN'T FOLLOWING YOUR OWN ADVICE AND GIVING THE MEDICATIONS A CHANCE. I LOOK FORWARD TO READING ALL YOUR NEGATIVE REVIEWS, ABOUT HOW EVERYTHING IS INEFFECTIVE.

enjoy the tip! 8)

Exactly, hairloss happens over a period of many months or years so dont expect any positive changes to happen in less than the same time period.

:: Thin Jim :: I agree with the warm/cold water thing. My hair seems more managable when I rinse it in cold water.

BIG tip here....

My fellow mod Cassin introduced me to an outstanding way to get that morning minoxidil app in.

Instead of applying right after the shower, I wait. I style my hair, a little dusting of hairspray, and then apply the minoxidil LAST, once the hairspray is dried and my hair is set.

Basically, I take the minoxidil dropper, squeeze in a good milliliter, and then WIPE THE SIDES OF THE minoxidil DROPPER DRY with a tissue. I then gently poke the dropper through my styled hair until it hits scalp, and let a droplet go. I repeat until my "affected area" is appropriately dotted with minoxidil.

No white stains in the hairs, no waiting for it to dry (my styled hair covers the minoxidil seeping into my scalp), and its just plain easy! THANKS, Cassin!

Thank you Pfizer for the Rogaine Foam!

Tip #1: Apply copper peptides before minoxidil. It’s less messy. Even if you apply them after the foam has dried, it feels like you’re washing of the foam with the peptides solution.

Tip #2: Buy a clipper and buzz your hair very short. You’ll save money on haircuts and shampoo. You won’t need any gels, hair brushes and hair dryers. And you’ll forget about styling hair you don’t have in the first place.

Tip#3: You could also use some hair loss topicals on your face:
copper peptides: skin regeneration and remodeling (removal of blemishes and scars)
emu oil: acne, age spots, chapped lips, moisturize skin, razor burn & nicks, recent scars etc.

Tip#4: To clean and kill bacteria on your scalp: Once a week apply a few drops of tea tree oil, wait 5-10 min. then wash with apple cider vinegar (to restore the proper acid/alkaline balance of the scalp and kill bacteria that clogs the pores), wait 5-10 min. and then wash with Neutrogena Anti-Residue Formula Shampoo (removes 90% of residue caused by shampoos, conditioners, styling products).

Tip#5: Every few months stop using topicals for a few days to give your scalp a break, and use only baby shampoo on those days.

Tip#6: If you want to apply Retin-A solution all over your scalp you could use a Dauber applicator. It’s very fast and easy.

what ive been trieng is i used to wash hair every day with nissim etc, now i dont wash hair for maybe 1 day or something, just to give the hair a break, and give it a few natural oils, im guessing the hair is free to grow when i take a break like that

Ensure that it is applied to the scalp, and try to avoid getting any in the crotch area.

If you use Revivogen and suffer from the orange stain on your scalp get a cotton swab, apply baby oil to it and rub it on your head. This will remove the orange staining very well.

dont vigorously masturbate after applying your minoxidil unless you have washed your hands very thoroughly. other wise you may end up with a wookie penis.
