I m almost 19. I have a decent amount of hair but they have been thinning for a while. No effect on the hairline though.
The horror stories about finasteride on the net are so ****ing terrifying. Some have no side effects but some land up with permenant impotency. What should I do? Is taking finasteride worth it? Any youngsters here on finasteride?

No one here will tell you not to take finasteride, just as no one on a PFS forum will tell you to take finasteride. You should see a dermatologist and trial finasteride, if your side effects are really bad or don't cease after a month or so you should stop taking it. Definitely see a dermatologist though to diagnose male pattern baldness.

Stop reading the 'horror' stories about Finasteride already, it's not going to help! The treatment is totally worth it at maintaining hair. It will not hurt to at least try the drug.

Take 1/4 pill every other day just to get your feet wet for a month and see how you feel. If you are healthy and normal weight you should be fine.
