In the past, a shaved head was considered to be the realm of neo-Nazis and criminals and bald men were encouraged to either get a hairpiece, have a combover, or simply grow out the horseshoe. However, due to Hollywood and "Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, and the typical crew yada yada", the politically correct way for a man to handle balding today is to simply bic the horseshoe. In fact many people aggressively coerce balding men into shaving their heads rather than holding onto thinning hair. On the surface this makes sense. I mean doesn't a clean shaven look look better than hair grown out on the sides like Bozo the Clown or a goofy combover. The answer is yes, BUT NOT BY MUCH. It still looks TERRIBLE. And we can STILL SEE YOUR HORSESHOE even if you bic it down to the skin. The shadow of the follicles in your horseshoe is still visible and the contrast between your barren dome and horseshoe is still noticeable. Many bald guys are ignorant of this fact and seem to think that a balding head looks cool like a buzzcut. It doesn't. A Norwood 1 buzzcut looks AWESOME because you still have a frame to your face, and the healthy closely cut hair has a nice velvety dark look to it, unlike a sickly looking pale shiny bald head where you have no frame for your face.
Case in point, Wentworth Miller and Jon Bernthal are Norwood 1s who have rocked the buzzcut and look awesome. They actually look like the type of badass that sly bald guys imagine themselves to be because they are shaving it by choice, they aren't forced into shaving it by male pattern baldness and then coping by saying they "embrace it".
As opposed to an actual bald guy like Moby who is forced to buzz his head to avoid the clownish horseshoe. No frame to it, and it still looks bad. Not cool like a NW1 buzzcut.
Anyways, a significant number of baldies realize that "just shaving it bro" is not a satisfactory aesthetic look and therefore go to the ridiculous length of getting a head tattoo to simulate the look of being a NW1 with a shaved head since they realize that a shaved horseshoe still looks ridiculous. In other words, you have to be a fullhead to even pull off a shaved look and therefore simply shaving your head is not a good solution to baldness, or else people would be fine with a shaved horseshoe and the head tattoo industry would not exist. This should be brought to attention when dealing with people who say just to shave your head when going bald as opposed to getting on treatments, getting a hair transplant, or even a hair system. Simply point to the very fact that the scalp micropigmentation industry exists to disprove their argument.
