The financial cost of medication?

Good day all,

As I mull over the possibility of having androgenetic alopecia and viewing the prevalence of drugs like minoxidil or finasteride on these boards, I was wondering roughly how much money you gentlemen have spent on pharmacological treatments since the first prescription.

I have no idea how much of a setback it'll be if I am indeed balding, so I'm doing what I can to weigh up my options. Shaving off my hair completely is a viable option for me. So, some perspective from the long term users of these drugs is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

5 euros for proscar every month and around 10 euros for minoxidil and another 2-3 euros for nizoral

FYI

if you live in the UK it's possible to get about a year's worth of Finasteride for £5, with a private prescription from your GP (or dermatologist)

so cost of finasteride is now no longer an issue for me

A years supply of branded proscar (5mg, cut into fourths) cost me €81 or €71, can't remember, got it in a pharmacy, I used to take Finpecia which I bought online and I can safely say it's legit, just be careful where you buy from, use a reputable website if you are going to use one or get a prescription from your GP or dermatologist. I don't use minoxidil, but Kirkland on Amazon costs like €50 for 6 months supply. It's hella cheap if you know where to look.

This is true! I got a prescription from a dermatologist, took the form to my local Superdrug, and paid £6 for just over 11 months' worth of generic finasteride.

Thank you all for your posts. If my dermatologist confirms I have male pattern baldness I'm now equipped with this information. Much appreciated.
