Thanks, Doctor.
How is your Proxiphen experience?

I find it kinda weird that he has lowered the minoxidil dose but from my email from dr p he don't seem to be a huge fan of minoxidil. I'm still thinking about using it, but maybe together with minoxidil foam. But then again, I can't say Prox-n have helped with anything other than my scalp health since my hair is still thinning.
I am using Proxiphen every other day now since its been over a year on it. I still really don't know if its doing anything much honestly because it never saved my true widows peak which is that tiny little section of hair in the middle of my hairline. I lost so many hairs in that area so fast it really makes no sense to me. I have never in my life experienced any fast hairloss in that area until about 6 to 8 months ago. Its like my hairs just shed and never came back. And those hairs were very thick ones. I even bought the scope Rassman recommended to map my miniaturization and all the terminal hairs look basically the same in size and seem rather normal. I do see alot of little tiny hairs under the scope but I don't know if they are vellus hairs or hairs that are going to become terminal. I also saw a very prominent hair transplant Doctor and he said most topicals like minoxidil are really not very beneficial for the frontal hairline or frontal scalp area. I guess if they were, hair transplant docs would have less patients to perform on. I also know now that these treatments are not going to help you keep what you have even if you start very early with minor thinning. If that were the case, I would have never became so obsessed with my hair. However, I think maybe the meds at least slow the pace of hair loss down slightly.

Bryan do you know he has lowered his minoxidil dose in Proxiphen?

Yes. I'm pretty sure he was talking about that back in the old alt.baldspot days. If I recall correctly, he had to lower the amount of minoxidil because it was interfering or conflicting in some way with one of the other critical ingredients in Proxiphen.

BTW, Dr. Proctor doesn't seem to think too much of minoxidil in general. He said he couldn't see any difference in effectiveness after lowering the amount, and that the other ingredient was more important than the minoxidil.

Hello all,
I recently asked an online hair Dr. what I should take if i'm not on Finasteride. I mentioned to him I am however on Minoxidil. He was nice enough to reply back to me and responded by suggesting 2% zinc pyrithione shampoo & get a prescription for Azelex as azelaeic acid.

Even though Dr. Lee has been making a healthy living for years selling Xandrox (with azelaic acid), there is no in vivo evidence that it works as a topical 5a-reductase inhibitor, and certainly no published evidence that it fights male pattern balding.

I emailed him about the percent of minoxidil about 6 months ago and he told me less than 2%. I then told Bryan this on one of my posts so that is how Bryan knows.

Oh, this change (from 5.5% to 2%) happened a LOT longer ago than just 6 months! I'm pretty sure he was talking about it back on the old alt.baldspot days, which is where I probably first heard about it.

I am wondering if any patients who formally used the Proxiphen with 5.5% responded better than the current version.

Dr. Proctor said he could tell no difference in effectiveness with the 2% version. Probably because the other ingredient (the one that was conflicting with the higher level of minoxidil) was more effective than the minoxidil.

God, no. That other ingredient being one of the mysterious and arcane ones that Dr. Proctor doesn't divulge or talk about! :)
