The Unbearable Frontal-only Recession + Finasteride Dilemma

Hey folks,

So here is it. I have exactly the same pattern of my father, who for his whole life had to deal only with temporal recession while having crazy density and thickness everywhere else. I knew my time would come, and as a confirmation, my forehead and hairline is getting astonishingly similar to my father's ( now his situation is worsening in mid-scalp too). That's precisely the reason for the rollercoaster of indecision that I have been through after all this awfully time lurking foruns. So here, in the foruns, we are shown that cases of guys with the temples/hairline-only recession pattern wrecking the hell out of their frontal areas with finasteride aren't rare anecdotes; those cases seems to appear in a sistematically horrific consistent way. Hence we have the debates on the elusive phenomenon of differential responses to androgens between frontal, mid-scalp and crown.

The thought that finasteride could possibly acellerate my frontal loss is KILLING ME SINCE 2014 !!!! I can't deal with this anymore!! I was literally following Brotzu's potion thread with finasteride in my hands, but couldn't pull the trigger. Not until the delay-bomb was dropped yesterday. There were also the previous hypes as the PG protocol and sh*t. f***, girls and guys, what do I do? As a way of taming the anxyety I started microdosing finasteride. I've been recently hit by another wave of thinning at frontal region and just couldn't take this indecision anymore.

Anyone with frontal-only pattern of recession to chime in? Anyone who had sucess slowing the temporal loss with the malignous dick-slayer?

Frontal loss is a b**ch to combat with the meds available. About the best options that I know of is finasteride or duta to halt or slow the progression and a hair transplant after a year on meds.

If someone has the money and is comfortable with the risks I think dutasteride is not a bad choice especially if you have bad male pattern baldness. Starting dutasteride early is probably the best thing you really can try.

Hey mate,

I've been slowly receding now since I was 16 (now 20) however only on the left temple and slight recede in the frontal forelock. I was doubting that I have aggressive male pattern baldness due to me being so young however in almost 5 years of loosing hair my recession Isn't too bad and not noticeable at all as I can cover it well. I won't take finesteride because I'm scared of sides and my derm advised me not too (should have protected sex for the rest of my life whilst I'm using it) so I hopped on minoxidil for around 6 months (12.5% with AA from belgravia centre) I got a big-ish shed at first, maybe 20 hairs on my pillow every night however my hair seemed to get better and I slowly stopped it. Fast forward a couple of months and no doubtedly my hair got worse in dropping it and noticed my hair was thinning more progressively. Ive now dropped my minoxidil down to a 5% foam lotion (regaine) and I've been on it for 6 weeks however I've been shedding non stop for around 6 weeks since I've been on it however I'm somehow not loosing any ground, hoping for results as I've now restarted the process.
