Actually it also reminds me another funny (sad) incident few months ago. I went to a shop to buy a razor for my beard. This ~45 yo woman seller at the store show me some model, and was explaining me enthusiastically why it is great model and everything, she mentioned her 23 old son uses it to trim his beard, she said he has nice beard, and then, in one second she instantly turn sad and said "but he is bald... he lost his hair..." man, she turned into depression mode immediately, said few words about that, I didnt respond much since I dont like to talk about this subject with people, so we just continued. But I could see in those moments how the fact that her young son is bald effects her, and probably has much more effect on him....

So many life are ruined by this most common devastating disease, and the world is silent.

His story is very believable actually. When my mom noticed my crown rapidly deteriorating and the pace overall at which I was losing my hair, she started to cry. She knew implicitly how much of an impact being bald, especially at age 23, would have.

She doesn't know all the things I take for my hair but I'm sure as hell she's happy I'm doing it. Ditto for the girls I've been with since then, although of course they would never admit it publicly.

She didn't talk about it to strangers, but I know some people are like that, just very talkative. It happened to me many times on flights, waiting in line somewhere, at the grocery store, people would just start up conversations with me and talk about great detail for some personal matters. All I'm saying is his claim sounds believable to me.

What Norwood are you? That would maybe explain why your mother didn't react. I always tried to hide my pain when around her or anyone else, but I will admit sometimes I did cry privately because it was very hard for me to bear (still is). Of course over the years I have come more to terms with it and do not react that way, it helps that treatments have slowed down and helped to recover a bit.

I should have left the medical center for a long time, but I was still waiting. In the corridor, parents were waiting for their girl, who was somewhere around 5 years old. Finally, the girl went out and went to her parents. Then after 5 minutes the doctor came out and went to the parents. I was there and heard their conversation. This little girl was diagnosed with brain cancer. The parents were very sad, there were tears in the eyes of the mother. And after that, you want to tell me that baldness is a devastating disease?

Im sure there ARE many people whose life are drastically changed due to hairloss, I hear all the time from people around me, coworkers, my friends, even my brother, and tons of cases online. The effect of course varies from one to another - some see that as minor, some really upset, some gets highly depressed, and for some it does ruin their life. so whats wrong with what I said? It still doesnt mean "every guy that get bald his life is ruined" do you really cant understand english? the difference is very simple. If someone offered him a deal to get rid of his chronic health conditions and disabilities but to go Norwood 7, I bet he would agree to it. The point is, whatever problem I actually have I can think to myself, well at least I am not homeless in Africa, or at least I don't have cancer. People don't live their lives in hypotheticals like that, we deal with the reality we are in.

You know what though, here is a harmless experiment for you to try. Shave your head into a horseshoe pattern, or only shave the back to leave a big bald spot in your crown. Go out and talk to some women and see what happens. Or even just shave your head completely and try it. Your hair will grow back so the risk is pretty small. Let's see who's right and who's wrong?
