i'm sure it's well known on this forum that there are many reasons why there is male pattern baldness. not just DHT. otherwise eveyrone would be walking around with full heads of hair.

after reading and reading and reading.. (and losing my mind) if found that there IS a cure for male pattern baldness!!! and no i'm not shitting you.

Cyclosporine is a drug that doctors use to help organ donor patients accept new organs.

basicly cycloporine is an immune depressant. It actually weakens your immune system. and it is a little known fact.. that male patients who have this drug put into them grow hair like weeds!!!

so should you go searching the internet for Cyclosporine.. ?? sure if you want to DIE!! this stuff will make the common cold kill you. you will die if you have any type of minor illness/virus.. etc..

so why the hell am i bringing this up? because eventually someone WILL discover something similar to this drug without the horrible sides..

so.. just some food for thought.

What exactly is HM and how does it work? Also, any timeline on it's availability?

upset stomach
vomiting
diarrhea
loss of appetite
increased hair growth
sinusitis
breast enlargement

this are side effects of this drug, but who knows does it work only on hair that you have, or it helps to get full head of hair...

I think this is something like MSM but much stronger

Thanks a lot Brittania...the Boston location is actually down the street from me. I might stop by there and see what goes on.

By the way, any idea what something like this will cost?

No idea. The cost will be in reach of the average joe though. There would be little point in developing an effective solution to hairloss only to find no-one can afford it!

Given that male pattern baldness is an auto-immune response by the body, this makes sense.

Gho has been working on his own HM technique, and has yet to perfect it. I wonder if it will ever truly be available. Even then, I have significant doubts about "surgery," or whatever HM can be considered. Obviously I would enjoy an HM option that all but guaranteed results.

I know for the New Year I'm going to split my paycheck weekly for my checking and savings accounts. So over time I will have enough or maybe win the lottery by luck and already be set!

Doesn't Intercytex have forms we can fill out to be participants?

yeh

interesting stuff that.
are there medicines that only weaken your immune system to an extent that some hair can regrow but not so much that the common cold kills you.

this would also support the fact that people with AIDS re-grow hair. its funny that- hair is supposed to be an indication of health, but the real facts turn that on its head- wtf people with AIDS regrow hair!!. i dont think there is anything quite as fucked up as male pattern baldness in this regard.

Not knocking HM, but its not a cure guys, its a treatment, and one that will still rely on the skill of the surgeon replacing the hair follicles. The intercytex thing sounds interesting (what little information there is).

But a cure would be something that stopped the hair from falling out once and for all.

I have an auto immune liver disease and I take Azathiprone to reduce my immune system. Strangely hair loss is listed as a side effetc of that but I havent noticed much diffused loss although male pattern baldness seems to be progressing. I think the hair loss is only at the start. I know of people on cyclosporine and I considered asking my Doctor to prescribe that instead until I found out it only accelerates hair growth in regions with hair. It wont make a baldy become Fabio nor will it slow down male pattern baldness. If you have doubts about this go to cyclosporine or auto immune user groups and ask men there. They will tell you they have to shave twice a day but still go bald.

What about a fluridil style topical that permanently shuts down the androgen receptors on the hair follicles?

You may only have to use it for a few months and then never again

Having these receptors separate people who keep hair from those that get male pattern baldness

We need something that shuts them down

Brittania, I emailed intercytex.com today and asked a few questions about the progress of the HM and was told that their Phase II trials are on schedule and will begin in early 2006. I don't know much about studies such as these...any idea how many phases it must go through and how long it takes to come out after being approved. The third phase trial is scheduled for 2007...when would be a good estimate for the availability of the HM if all goes well? Any idea?

Agreed. But would this work for fairly older men who already have advanced hair loss?

The are 3 phases in these trials (I, II, III - unsure why they use roman numeruals!). If the final trials (III) are due to take place in 2007 I imagine HM will be licensed sometime in 2008 (providing everything runs smoothly). But that isnt when HM will become available. Theyve still goto train staff up, sort out clinics, market their product, sort out admin, get finance for the product launch etc, etc. Anyone know how long after finasteride was licensed for use in male pattern baldness that Propecia became available?
I would be suprised if its available before 2010.
