I was talking with a friend of mine about how worrying about my hairloss was shutting down my life and he got pissed off at me. He said that I'm one of the most involved interesting people he knows and that I've got a massive breadth of culture and life to engage in rather than worry about one physical aspect.

This made me reflect on this forum. You can sense behind a lot of the guys on here that there are some kickass personalities around. In that vein, I thought we could mention a few things other than our hair loss that makes us who we are and hope to reaffirm for a lot of us that there is a ton more going on than what's on our head.

Me: I'm a 22 year old guy that's 6'2'', 215 pounds, strong rugby build. I graduated from college this spring with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Psychology. I've written articles for national magazines about politics and I had my own political column at the college. I'm into video games, punk/emo music, books, sushi, and horror movies. I live in California and love the hell out of this state. I hate zealots and respect success.

That all said, I reminded even myself that I'm not a guy who is balding. I'm a guy with a life. Would love to hear about the rest of you.

good idea for a thread i think, reaffirming that whole fight club motif that we are not our f*****g khakis, we are not our nice houses, etc.

I guess it would be cool to know more about everyone on this forum, though i fear this thread will soon get moved ;-) I'm a medical student, into playing guitar and hugely into music. if you guys are interested in some kick *** bands, check out death cab for cutie, postal service, and sigur ros. these are three of my favs right now. I'm a pretty big family guy, and am a huge fan of guinness and natty light beer in a bottle, i'm serious guys, its tasty and a completely different beer in the bottle. that's all. stay positive.

Similar to what we did at thanksgiving dinner :)

Being aware of who we are and what we have to offer this world outside of our appearance, is a good thing to do. Im thankful for so much, too. I really think I've been blessed ... to be able to spend every hour of my day working on something that helps people. To be a part of somehow making the world a better place and give people somewhere to come to get support. Thats a huge aspect of what I like about my life. I double majored with Business Information Systems and graduated with honors with a degree in Biblical Studies, and have always been thankful for at least the awareness of my faith. It has enriched my life experience quite a bit. I've written for publications, and have won awards for my writings while acquiring my "regular" degree in college. I spent most of my life by myself without a family and without a dad, but in the last 6 months before he passed away (this year) I was able to at least see his face for the first time in 15 years and I held his hand as he died in front of me. This lead to the reunion of a family I never knew I had in October... on his side. Over 9 brothers and sisters and over 50 cousins and uncles and aunts and neices and nephews. This has become a huge part of what keeps me going every day now. My mother is also now dying, and this has resulted in a fierce but strong realization of the fragility of life, and importance of every day... a friend killed herself this year as well, in March ... so my 30th year of life has been extremely difficult, but it has all resulted in appreciating things that much more. It has also turned my awareness back towards God, whom I had largely abandoned after my best friend died in a car accident in College. I realized that in the end, no matter who you are, or what you believe, you're going to have to deal with what you believe about God. Its an issue you're going to have to have a solid answer for at some point in your life. Where you stand. It will either happen 5 minutes before you lose consciousness for the last time, in a mad panic rush ... or it will happen somewhere along the path of life. I suggest using the time you have to figure out where you stand now. Lastly ... I get up every day and see more gray hairs on my head than I ever have before, but I look outside at the San Diego sun, palm trees, and 70 degree weather in Mid-December, and I consider myself the luckiest guy alive.

Good Topic.

lets see me.. hmm well i'm not no 6'2" rugby guy i'm barely 5'9" 145. I've really go into investing over the past year and have put almost all my money into the stock market recently. Besides doing stocks I like playing comp games and kicking back a few brews with my friend's. i'm a huge car enthusisit and hope within the next year restore a car and do some comp. autocross/drag racing. I'm a very hard worker and when I set my mind to something I usually get it. I can be a great friend or someone's worst enemy.

Good look on the scrooge mcduck, however I suggest that you make sure the money you swim in is paper as scrooge somehow swam in coins. In my professional opinion the coins would hurt.

I'm 34, financial controller of a small but internationally dispersed division of a very large multinational electronics company. Majored in Business Administration with dual options in Political Economy and Finance, minored in Political Science. Did a bachelors' thesis on the impact globalization has on relative currency strength in emerging economies. Masters in Business Admin in process from the University of Southern California. Go Trojans, our football team is number one!

Played water polo in college during my undergrad years, still swim and enjoy the gym to this day. Lived in downtown Los Angeles for years with my ex-gf, had the pricey condo in Hancock Park... until we broke up. Then, decided that the lifestyle and circles I was in were bullshit so I moved to a cramped but easily maintained and SMALL condo in the relatively affordable but trendy area of Belmont Shore, right near the beach. Nice people here, they actually say hello when you pass them on the sidewalk which is a real change for someone used to downtown LA life. I love the fresh ocean air, and the sound of the foghorns from the buoys when the fog rolls in on cool evenings.

After the breakup, I replaced the lost lovemaking with lots of soulless but mindblowing f*****g of the various local college students, young female professionals, hedonistic artists, and beach urchin beauties that grace these shores, but now I'm looking for love again. I love it here, for the first time last year, I actually got a little tan on my skin which used to be dark brown in my water polo days. Beach LA has such a different and more relaxed culture than inland LA.

The bad news is that no girl seems to want to stick to me for longer than three months. Oh, that and the fact that I'M f*****g LOSING MY HAIR. But it's all good... nothing a little kayaking in the bay on a Saturday afternoon with a few joints, a mini cooler of beer, and friends, out under the sun can't fix... life is good.
