These medications are a joke

Its all in your mind. If you all believe "propecia" is such a life saver, you will have a placebo effect, and all the positive thinking in the world, and confidence will on your own, grow hair. these medications arent doing anything more than a sugar pill would do, its ur beliefe in them, that makes the difference. Sure you have "not regrown hair, but maintaned" off these drugs, but before there were any drugs available, male pattern baldness was classified as a disease that stopped dead in its tracks, and picked up years later...that after all was the solace that docs gave patients 25 years ago..."yes you have male pattern baldness, but relax, it takes years to actually make you bald". Please tell me what these drugs have REALLY accomplished that cant be chalked up to a placebo effect.

I am drunk, i want you all to debate my comments NOW

Hmmm... interesting.

My main problem with what you are saying is that in the propecia trials, the effect of the drug was measured against a placebo

Alles klar? :p

why don't you explain the trial result at the first place before others to debate your comment?

what b***sh*t this guy is saying....
obviously he's very frustrated by his condition, and he probably took propecia and it didn't work for him...
So, if you read more about propecia and how it was found you wouldn't talk like a bitter, ignorant guy...
Finasteride, the active ingredient was found to help hair loss by chance....randomly. It was designed to treat enlarged prostate in men. As a side effects, during those trials, it was found out that it restored hair in many patients who took it. Of course, "maintainance" wasn't able to be detected, because you can't compalin of any "maintainance" of your hair as a side effects. You can only complain about noticable things like growing back hair. The only thing I agree with you, is that as a DHT inhibitor iin many times it only "gets rid" of the harming DHT but doesn't work as a real stimulant to restore hairs. However, in some cases, especially if the patient was at his early stage of loss, inhibition of DHT was suffiecient to encourage the hair follicles to get back to normal.
This is why it's higly recommanded to use minoxidil in addition to propecia.

Good luck,
Eliaz

Finasteride wasn't "found" to work on Androgenetic Alopecia by accident.

There is no conspiracy. These pharmaceuticals WORK.

There is hard, substantial evidence supporting this.

It would be mighty hard to fool the entire American public with a pharmaceutical conspiracy.

Actually Finesteride and Minoxidil were found to work for hairloss by accident. Patients who took Proscar for prostate problems grew hair, same with oral minoxidil.

But that placebo thing is a joke. Finesteride and Minoxidil definetly work. I beleive in the positive thinking, but the fact is these meds work and lowered DHT in studies.

Hmm i dunno, i remember a post by bryan, where he said that the Merck had a "range of conditions (due to dht) in mind, including hair loss" when they went about developing finasteride.

But yes, it's true for minoxidil.

Bryan said that all the proven treatments were discovered by accident or something i think. Ask him, i doubt they had it in mind to reduce dht for hairloss, i read that patients reported hair growth when taking it for prostate problems.

Then there is finasteride again what your taking which is for prostate enlargement, but yet you are using it for hairloss. did someone did research and made this drug? NO it was just stumbled up on also.

WRONG. Finasteride for hairloss was not "stumbled upon". It was specifically designed from the very beginning for various androgen-related problems, including balding.

Also...

Again: its effect on male pattern baldness wasn't "unintended". Do your homework.

If this drunken principle were true the same could be said that at some stage each of us had to manifest and think about hair loss and the fact we were going to lose our hair in order for it to happen.

Whilst the mind is powerful, we do not have the grounding nor ability to solely reduce/stop/reverse hair loss by thought alone.

I believe it is possible, but due to societal constraints, the world we live in and being consumed by everyday life our brains are trained only to think inside the box.

Guys, all pharmaceutical products are tested against a placebo.

exactly. the FDA isn't going to give approval to any drug not tested double-blind against a placebo.

At the end of the day it seems that finasteride works for some people but not for others. Even those that it helps will most likely still go bald in the long term. I don't see finasteride as a cure but I'm hoping that it will slow down the balding process and help me keep what hair I have until a proper cure is found. Hopefully within the next five years!
