I can't figure this out. I have naturally very thick hair, which feels at least double the thickness of other people... I run my hands through my hair, and it feels like a brush.

Now here comes the dillema.. my front hairline has big recessions at the temples, pretty much NW2.5. I've been like that ever since I was in highschool..

So I tried going on minoxidil for 6 months, saw no improvement, and went off. Now that its 6 months after, my front hairline is super thinning, and I think it receded even more. Is it possible for minoxidil to make things worse? Is it some sort of weird tolerance, where my system now requires it?

I'm not sure if i should go back on it.. is this my natural recession, or a result of the minoxidil...

I'm seeing a mini bald spot on the top of my head too.. but the hairs are just as thick as everywhere else, just less dense... is it possible to bald without thinning??

Any suggestions?

i cnsider thinning to be either the thining of the hairshft itself, or the density of space fille by hair to decrease, so i would say ur thinnin

The same thing happened to me. I started to receed and used minoxidil and I think it accelerated male pattern baldness. About a year later I went off it and the condition of my hair improved for awhile, but then started to grow-in more and more miniature than before. I realize this is the natural progression of male pattern baldness, but I believe minoxidil accelerated it when it first started. If I had it to do all over again I would have waited till later in my treatment to use it - more as a last resort.

However, if you start it - you better stay on it like everyone says.

Is there a non-minoxidil solution???
I was only on it for 6 months, more of a play-around and see what happens type thing.

I'm not even sure if I was actually balding to begin with, because I've always had a high hairline, and the stiffness of my hair causes it to stick up, exposing more scalp to make it look like I was balding.

But now, I definitely am... the front is all thin in diameter... but I don't want more minoxidil if this is what it does to me!! Whatever happened to "no side effects"??

question. had great results with propecia. then it tapered off a little and added minoxidil, more great results. the thinning area filled in, hair wasn't coming out but now i have longish hair and it comes out in the back. still looks the same but i'm wondering if you grow a tolerance over time to this stuff?
