Thinking of Starting a Regime, Need Advice

A lil background;

Okay so I am 21 years old and I always had very thick hair. I was told various times by different individuals who cut my hair that my hair was extremely thick and healthy.

It only started about 8 months ago when I noticed my hair was thinning. The physical attributes had changed, it had become thinner and my hair was falling out excessively. My hairline has receded tremendously. I went to a GP and he did some tests and told me I was not balding and there was nothing wrong with me. How dare he? I went again but with another GP and he did tell me that my hair on top was thinning out and that later on if I need it I can go on Rogaine but he did not mention Propecia or anything like that. He was very sympathetic though, and I appreciated that.

My hair is currently falling out excessively, and its all thin on top. Kinda like diffuse balding. It is gotten to the point where I can't take this anymore and I am willing to do whatever it takes to save my hair. If I look down my scalp is noticeable and the thin hair is even more evident. I even notice people staring at my hairline when they talk to me, it is depressing.

Okay so thanks for reading through that. I want to start a regime and stop hairloss in its tracks now before it is too late.

I currently have been on these two for a month and a half:
Saw Palmetto Extract 320mg (once daily)
Silica Complex (500mg 8% Extract Daily)

I want to start with the above plus:
Nizoral Shampoo (Once or Twice a week)
NOW Berry Full Shampoo
Finasteride or Dutasteride

What do you guys think? Will it be safe for me to start using finasteride or Dutasteride at 21? Will Saw Palmetto and finasteride be too much on my libido for my age? Also, what is the least expensive online store to buy finasteride or dustasteride online?

I'm 20 and balding too, there are other young guys in same boat.
As for your experiences with doctors, GPs are, on the whole, crap with hair loss and often know nothing sbout it. We've all been stressed by the doctors here. Anyways, if you've had blood tests, we can probably rule out other causes for hair loss. That said, from the description of your hair loss, it could be something like alopecia areata, just have to look at the 'pattern' or lack of thats forming on your head.

Anywho ONTO TREATMENTS. Being young and reletively early in our hair loss, though can't promise anything, we have better changes of getting some maintenance and/or regrowth.

Firstly, some people say vitimins work, but the general view is that things like Saw Palmetto Extract and Silica Complex aren't worth it, that they don't really do much. Don't need to worry about vits, unless you're deficient.

You want to start finasteride, now you can order it from an online pharmacy, e.g inhouse (google them), but there's always a chance for fakes. If you're from the UK, you can get a proscar from Dr Ashcroft

Which is the same thing as propecia, just you cut it into 5ths

Nizoral Shampoo is a good idea, go for it.
Don't worry about berry Full Shampoo, stick to nizoral ;)

As for Dutasteride, some people will disagree with me, but I'd advise against starting out on Dutasteride, it's a decent amount stronger than propecia, however with that the potential for side effects is more-so and potentially longer lasting, so you want to start off with the safer drugs, which plenty of people have real gains on, propecia/proscar, I'd say only after a year or so, if it's done nothing for you, only then make the switch to dutasteride.

As for the side effects, I've never had any from propecia, and the majority of people don't seem too. That is the chance that you will, but you won't know for sure unless you try it.

Anywho, that's all I can really say, though welcome to the forum. You might want to consider making a blog here, to document your hair loss progress, maintenance or regrowth. :)

Thanks alot for the reply, I feel kinda good that I am not the only one at my age going through this. I mean I am sure there are millions of us around our age but I just never see them on the streets or what not.

A question for you, or anyone out there who has bought legit Finasteride online at a decent price; could you please let me know by PM or reply the website address? Thanks.

Im 22, with thinning crown, receding hairline, so yeah I know it sucks thinking about where itll be in a few years even.

Ive been on rogaine for almost 10 months havent noticed much, and finasteride for 5 1/2 months, with no visible results yet, but its hard to say if my hair is any better or worse than it was 10 months ago so thats a positive I guess.

My advice is to try out finasteride for atleast a year. Some people have some horror stories from sides from it apparently, but the majority of people will have no or little side effects. Ive been getting my finasteride, Finpecia, from InHouse Pharmacy for $48 for 180 tablets, with free shipping. Do some research on it, they have all positive feedbacks so Im pretty comfortable with its legitimacy. At our younger ages Id definately say to try finasteride for 1 or 1.5 years before trying dutasteride, that stuff sounds alot more dangerous.

Lastly, Id recommend getting some toppik or another kind of concealer. Ive been using it since Ive started treatments and it works like a charm and Im way less depressed and self-concious about my hair than I was before....unless Im swimming or my hair gets soaked lol. Put it on, take finasteride and forget about your hair for atleast a year and go from there
