So I've been a diffused thinner for a couple years now, i still have a good looking head of hair but i've thinned out alot overal especially near my hairline and crown. So my question before starting Kirkland minoxidil is how is it suggested for diffusers to apply the lotion? And when applying all over the scalp are you supposed to saturate the scalp or just a drop in every little place and a bit of a massage. Do you massage till its absorbed or just to keep the liquid restricted to the area applied?

Has anyone tried a tapering on method in which they've reduced the dread shed?

Sorry if these questions may seem somewhat silly, but I want to make sure im optimizing my use of minoxidil.

Personally, I would go to a dermatologist and get a prescription for proscar (finasteride). Cut each 5mg pill in 4 pieces and take one a day. This will keep what you have now and between that and minoxidil, you should see results. As far as minoxidil, it is a liquid not a lotion. Apply approx. 1mL twice a day. It doesn't have to saturate your scalp, but it is helpful to apply it to different parts of your head. There is a theory that if you apply it to one part of your scalp (ie. crown) then it will spread to all parts under the skin. Similar to a drop of water on a paper towel.

I apply 2mL per application. I drop a little bit on all parts of the scalp and massage it in lightly for a few seconds. I just do it to keep the liquid contained within the affected area.

I've already started finasteride, but I'm tapering onto it with the first week of taking it twice, next 3 times and continue every other day there after. Minoxidil is also reffered to as a scalp lotion :) Oh okay thanks for the tip of application, I think i'll wait about 2 months on finasteride to see if I notice ANY results to start with before incorporating a life long commitment to minoxidil.
