apparently propecia doesnt work- which sux coz ive been using it for a month & ive paid nearly £100 for a 3month batch.

ive decided to take a look at minoxidil but also that doesnt work on the temples!!!

its a longshot but what if i take propecia whilst applying minoxidil twice daily? any chance that might work?

well it said on propecia's official US website that there is no evidence it works on the temples.

oh and on my bottles of minoxidil (regaine) it clearly states that its for the vertex of the head.

it works better on the vertex. in the official trials it was only tested there so thats all they can say legally.

The reason why they say that is because Merck has never officially tested finestride on the temples. If they were to claim a certain success rate on the temples, that would be "false advertising" as there is no official data.

That doesn't mean it doesn't work. My guess is that Merck knows the success rate in the temples is lower than in the crown, so they don't want to spend money on the official tests.

I didn't get any regrowth at all on my temple areas with finasteride, but that may have been because I lost hair in that area first and it was not recoverable.

The real reason is because the success rate with temple regrowth is very poor.

would you market a product in a way that suggests it only half works?

of course not, that's why they claim 'only tested/proven to work in the vertex'

That's exactly what I think.

Geminix, just looked at your Picture Blog. THAT regrowth on finasteride alone isn't possible. It MUST be the estradiol you were taking. I guess if we find out how to put some estrogenes to our scalp without getting the estrogene related side effects, we wouldn't have a problem anymore.

Emu oil may work I've been using it for a couple of months now and the temple region was a little thinner than it is now. I apply 1 ML twice a day. Its as greasy as hell though and you probably only need to apply about 1/4 of that ONCE a day but I've already started applying twice a day and I'm sticking to it. :)

Yeah, I'm quite sure the combination of hormones, Androcur and finasteride have really complemented each other.

Geminix, is Androcur need prescription from a Doctor?

Absolutely, under no circumstances should Androcur be taken on self prescription. It requires medical supervision and regular blood tests.

I'm hammering my temples with ... well everything. Seems to be working, lots of new hair coming in after two months. Lets hope it stays.

Lol, you seem to have a lot of money/time to use all that.

Yes but I'm tired of wearing an evil horse skull on my head. And you thought that was just an avatar?

:p

I just think it would have been less a hassle if you had tried 2-3 treatments first. Who knows, maybe minoxidil 5% is giving you all the regrowth? :(

Maybe it is, and your right. But I don't care :) The goal is to grow hair while I'm in the 30 month 'window'. Seems to be working as of now. Later when things stabilise I'll experiment with dialing back various treatments to see if the effect is detrimental or not.

When I began minoxidil, it was only for hairline recession back when I was 20/21. At 23, it has maintained my hairline but has not prevented thinning. The synergistic use of minoxidil + finasteride seems to produce a much better experience. That is the regimen I will begin over the next month.

However, minoxidil only REGROWS (in my experience) for 2 years. After that it stops working but you still have to use it to avoid the minoxidil rebound shed, which is often irreversible in my research.

minoxidil I've used:

1. Store brand minoxidil (8$ per bottle)
2. MiN Agent (35$ per bottle)

Min has the following ingredients:

5% Minoxidil
Kopexil (AKA Aminexil SP94)
Procapil (reinforces hair anchoring)
Copper Peptide Y3 (anti DHT)

I also use (but am soon going to stop) the MiN Defense System... you can google that. It has saw palmetto and azelaic acid as ingredients, but I doubt shampoos have ample time for absorption into the scalp.

Addict, how long were you using hairmuck before you noticed any difference? You are using a lot of stuff in your regieme though. Is nizoral every night a good thing or not?
